Although it looks as if they caught this before shipping and have started to re-bake new chipsets, albiet a very costly excercise as they likely had stocks of the flawed chip already stockpiled up.

Not to mention the early adopters but most can get by just using the 2X6GB headers, me I get no video signal also so I'm up the creek anyways. At least my supplier will pay shipping both ways when the new boards arive, Maybe they'll put me at the head of the line.

Who is your supplier? I hope it's Asus

I hope I don't have to pay for shipping to ship my P8P67 Pro board back.

    Nothing to worry about!

It's just %5 of the new 6 series boards MAY degrade over time when HEAVILY using MORE than 2 hard drives, and if it does fail then you can easily get a replacement, so nothing to worry about really.

Re: Intel has disclosed a problem with the latest generation of the new ICs that supp

No as the issue is not the CPU but the chipset in Cougar Point which is the motherboard, the Sandy Bridge CPUs are designed to work with that chipset. Cougar Point based Chipsets are very new and motheroards have been available for a month or so, mainly to OEMs but some desktop retail boards have been around for end users.

Although the article you pointed too is misleading as the issue is with Cougar Point Chipset and not the CPUs in the degradation of the SATA controller, which the articles headline is to score hits over accuracy!! contrary to the writers later reply to a reader who put him straight on the H67/P67 Chipset being the cause he still did not mention CHIPSET in the article and has lost the interest of techies already by that point.

This is a more comprehensive article on the issue HERE

It only affect boards which accept the latest generation Sandy Bridge CPU's, ie the i5 2500k and the i7 2600k (the only ones really worth the money).

So as David says it's only the H67 and P67 boards that are affected.

Do stores still sale the Sandy Bridge chipsets ? Or are all the Sandy Bridge being send back to be fixed.

Why is it only Sandy Bridge chipsets.

They should be being recalled by all retailers since the findings.

because thats the only chipset affected and its not Sandy Bridge CPUs but Cougar Point, the CPU is Sandy Bridge and the affected Chipset is Cougar Point, you need to read the links folk post for you more carefully.

They are still for sale in the UK, if you're fails take it back to the place you bought it from.

Just because a Toyota Auris has to get re-called for a gear shift fault does that mean that the whole range of toyotas has to be recalled? Same principle.

Yes, stores are still selling the CPU as there's nothing wrong with it, The chipsets could be faulty as no one outside Intel has been able to replicate the issue.

Yeah the issue starts to take effect after 2 years i think so only Intel who have access to the SATA controller could have tested it for 2+ years.
