Hiya guys, well I'm back for more,it's your fault for being so helpful ..lol
ok,I am rebuilding a pc that has a fried K7SA mobo, and I want to use the same tower, what I need to know is what type of mobo is the k7?an ATX?-see I want to get something juicy that will fit in there,I plan to DJ with this pc.

    any suggestions on a mobo?

    Thanks in advance :)

The k7SA is an old board. It uses an AMD socket 462 CPU and DDR2100 memory.

To the best of my knowledge socket 462 motherboards are no longer offered by any manufacturer. Even if you could find one, the processor and memory would make the PC deathly show by today's standards.

I would start from scratch. Building a decent PC isn't that expensive.

If you want to reuse the existing case, almost every case will take a micro-ATX (mATX) motherboard. ATX boards are larger. If in doubt, measure the old board and match it against the listed measurements for mATX and ATX models on a site like newegg.com. Unless you're planning on using multiple add-in video or PCI expansion cards, the mATX size should be fine even if the old board is the larger ATX size.

DO replace the power supply if it's over two years old and/or under 400 watts. Power supplies weaken by about 10% per year of use. It isn't worth the risk of trashing a new board with an older PSU.

This being said, here's an inexpensive build that will easily handle audio and light-to-moderate video DJ use:

Board (has both VGA and HDMI outputs):

    CPU:

    Memory:

Hard Drive (expensive but worth it: "enterprise" drives are far more heat and vibration resistant than standard grade drives):

Power Supply (maybe a bit of overkill; however sale price, rebate and customer reviews all make it worthwhile):

(note: I priced this off newegg's USA site; however similar models and pricing should be available at www.newegg.ca)

    Hope this helps. :)

    Thanks gman.
I am gonna do a complete rebuild, not worth using anything in there,I just wanted to know if it was an ATX or a micro...
I found some old reviews and was able to figure out what I needed, but very curiously or peculiar is that I priced almost exactly the same components you suggested.I found it very eerie.lol

    Great advice.Thanks again :cool

I think it's a mistake to buy a MB with on-board graphics, as your paying for something that will surely become oudated. Better to buy a discrete graphics card IMO.

It all depends on the intended and actual uses for the PC.

In the OP's case, if the system will be used primarily for audio playback (or, for other users, e-mail, basic web surfing or office apps) there is nothing wrong with basic onboard video.

Almost every entry level mATX board on the market has onboard video. If the OP (or anyone else) finds its performance lacking, almost every entry level mATX board also has a PCI-e 2.0 video card slot for a quick upgrade. Some even offer a hybrid Crossfire option.

I'm not knocking discreet video cards. For higher end gaming or a top shelf home theater PC build, either a single high performance card or a multiple card SLI/Crossfire setup is a necessity. Otherwise, I see no logic in purchasing a separate card initially if the only thing it adds is cost.
