Don't use it - hell, I don't even use Facebook.

I have heard that Twitter helps those guys that run mobile sandwich wagons in metro areas: "Joe's Submobile will be at the corner of Main and 42nd at 11:30", yada yada...

If that's all it's good for, then that's all it's good for...:confused

I never signed up because I don't get the fascination either. Why do I care what you are doing every five minutes?

Apparently it's popular among celebrities. You know, celebrities? The people who want us to think of them every minute of the day, but then turn around and say "Please respect my privacy"?

 

Never have, never will.

 

Never have and never will get involved in so-called 'social' networks, mainly because I like my private life to remain private. I have no particular wish to tell the world that I just ate two bowls of Cheerios for breakfast or picked my nose yesterday rolleyes. Somehow, I'm just not that important.

I made a Facebook page once and just wrote something like, "I guess this page will never be read, LoL!" Never been back to it since. Maybe G.W.B. and a whole heap of others have read it and are just dying for me to respond - somehow I doubt it, though.

If you like the thought of your personal info being accessed by the world, including every low-life pervert and scam artist, then whatever floats your boat, I guess. Just don't come crying to me. "Whaa!, my computer is infected, I'm getting harassed by phone, mail and have strangers knocking on my door!" You made your bid for "fame", so deal with it ~ TWIT! rolleyes

 

I manage IT for three small companies that total about 150 employees. All three of them were pleased when I talked to them about blocking ALL access to social networking sites. I forced redirects from all the major sites to a page telling them to go back to the tasks they are being paid to do.

I can't imagine a greater waste of time, electricity, bandwidth and hardware then social networking.

I once had a customer in my shop request that I contact her through Facebook instead of giving me a phone number. She seemed truly shocked when I told her I don't do Facebook and won't take her computer in without a phone number to contact her. She told me she didn't like giving out her phone number for privacy reasons and left with her computer to find someone more reputable to work on it. Go Figure.

 

I hear Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore are a couple of twatters.

Personally I don't participate in this kind of stuff.

 

My imput I dont use any social sites like twitter or myspace or facebook. IMO if I did/would it would be myspace cause atleast you can edit your background and add music and chat up. But twitter who wants to read/hear your every few minute life..(not me atleast). Got more important things like reading Major Geeks forum then twit!

 

Not to mention the malware/virus being distributed these days on social networks....

If I wanted you to be my "Friend" I would have invited you over for dinner....

 

Social sites like twitter help keep places like this of staying open and busy.

I must admit I have a fondness for facebook games. Well, one in particular (no, not farmville :-D) but I use a separate account to do that.

 

I don't get the attraction for Twitter either. I tried it - and found it pretty much useless . . .

I did create a facebook page, but haven't done a lot with it of late. That would be the exent of my "social networking"

Something makes such venues attractive to scores of people - must be too esoteric for me to discern, I guess :-D

 

Who wants to hear about someones evey little detail of their life, have enough details of my own life to think about never mind start telling everyone about it aswell ! :*** silly Twats, get a :*** life, is your own life so uninteresting, that you have to tell everyone about your every move !

The thing that makes me crazy about twitter is that ppl are online to be 'famous' so to speak. It they are posting it is because they want to be seen and heard and some glorification in that-at least I do-but with twitter, when you follow someone you are subjected to their daily ramblings but can not force them to see yours... It just aint right.

Completely agree. This is not the way of the future. I wrote an article the paper about how pointless it is.

Oh, I just checked my email, and made a witty reply on MajorGeeks.com. I will most likely trim my fingernails Tuesday, and did fix a minor leak on the kitchen sink.

LoL, I just don't get the twitter. Heck I let my cell phone lapse. I guess I am just not important enough to be in touch with 24/7.

One person tried to get me on the facebook thingy. Because someone might be looking for me. Maybe an ex, or a long lost friend... The ex's are ex's for a reason, and if an old friend can't use the dang phone book to find me, we probably would not have much to talk about.
