    XP (running SP3) recently reinstalled.

    My title/subject line, above, sort of says it all, I think...

    Found this -->> http://www.zhangduo.com/udi.html -->> in a quik search here @ MG'S, in this thread -->> http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=122242.

    Do we know if that prog is any good? Or are there better programs for this problem of mine? Or would there be a better procedure for me to follow, please?

    Thanks in advance,
    glenn...

    Hi,
    Can you give me a bit more info on your machine i.e... make/model as this will help in finding the correct sound driver for your system.
    I personally dont approve of using that type of software to find drivers and hardware as they throw up so many negatives and, you don't realy know what you are allowing into your system with them. Just my oppinion, others may differ, i used driver magician once and it totally :*** my machine.

    Thanks and agreed...I was simply looking for a quick "fix" :-o this time...

    It's a Dell 4500S ("S" = slim) ... not sure what else you'd need - it was a fairly "early" XP build, but I suppose with the Service Packs (SP3) now that is negated (doesn't matter?).

    Thanks again...
    PS ~ It has rather basic Harman Kardon desktop speakers that came with the machine from Dell.

    these are the audio drivers for your machine.
    in future if you run into driver/hardware issues you should use the service tag number on the side of the machine (it is usually on the lefthand side of the casing). it doesn't really matter as to what service pack is installed as you will always get the most up-dated version of the driver/hardware that's available for that machine.

    Thank you BOTH a BUNCH!

    As seems to happen fully 50-75% of the time between me and Tech, when I went back to that machine, after it had been shut-down and had sat for awhile, all was good...?

    I had rebooted a couple of times previous to beginning this thread, but apparently that last time had done the trick - or else just sitting a bit straightened things out?

    Thank you both again - all is well......
