Burning a DVD to an external hard drive?

Are there any freeware software that will let me take a copy protected movie and copy it to my external hard drive?


Note this is my dvd I purchased and want a copy for me only and have no intention of sharing it with anyone. But I do tend to break and or loose these things and need a backup

I think if he just wants to copy a DVD to hard drive than DVDdecrypter would work in a few minutes. It doesn't compress for fitting onto a standard DVD disc but just copies the files to HD.

 

Thankyou sach2, that was helpful for know. I noticed that after I copied the DVD, I could not play it with RealPlayer or windows media player. But I could play it with KM player. In KMplayer the quality of the picture is low. How can I improve the quality of my playback?

I got glitchy high quality playback from RealPlayer, is there a tweek I can do to KMplayer to make it better?

Handbrake is a great program that I use to RIP DVDs to my computer.

As for playing videos and any type of content. VLC Media Player will play any media type. It is simply amazing. Not to mention the volume. You can increase the volume 300%(trust me, its a big deal:-D)

 

Excellent recommendation Baxter Stockman. I am still wondering why KMplayer replays it in a lower quality? It has always given me the highest quality audio, with sever ways to manipulate the audio to perfection. So sad, but VLC is working great with high quality video.

 

I am unfamiliar with KMplayer. So I'm not sure why it would be struggling. Might just be that particular format.
