The above is ready to be installed but I wanted to know if it might be a bit soon in case of a M.S. error.
    Thank you

Go for it. It's as ready as it's ever going to be.

I did SP1 for 32bit about 4 hours ago. I rebooted about 5 times to see if it would hang, blue screen, etc. No problems yet. I usually ride without system restore on (yea yea I know) but I did turn it on and create a restore point before doing so. What's the worst that could happen, a restore or at worst a reinstall? I say live dangerous and go for it.

I've installed it on four 64 bit computers. Not a problem yet.

    Failure

    Error code 80200053.

The first time, the download stated failed within 3 or 4 minutes.
I rebooted and the second time around, it installed successfully.
The history reads as it should with one failure and a success.
I have an image whereby I can revert to yesterdays sytem then install from there but, I think the fact that the installation was successful the second time indicates I am good to go as is.
I have been maneuvering and to date see no issues.

I do not understand much of the error code I have been reading up on but perhaps too many people were trying the same thing at EST.
    Any opinions?

I was going to start a thread about this also.... I'm just curious to hear about everybody's experiences installing/using Win7 SP1 -both good and bad- since I've been looking forward to the SP1 release for a while now.... I'm totally up-to-date as far as regular Windows Updates are concerned, so I'm also a bit curious as to what's been added to SP1, what changes it will make to the already installed OS, etc.

Also - I strongly recommend that people download the offline installer (available from this link here at MajorGeeks) and install that way instead of doing it online via Windows Update. I also suggest (as others above have mentioned) creating a restore point (be sure System Restore is enabled) before starting the SP1 install. I'll likely create a full image (using EASEUS ToDo Backup) just in case the :crap hits the fan....

My installation of SP1 went smoothly. Did it through Windows Update. I had one graphics driver error after the first boot after install, but the driver recovered, and there haven't been any other problems since.

Mine too through WU - no issues at all.

I'm sorry, guess I'll be the first to report a problem.
    :(

The first attempt says it failed? Don't understand why.

Second attempt, it says the update is there, but nothing to download (0 KB total, 0% complete) pic attached. It's sitting there, stuck.

SP1 for Win 7x64 and Internet Explorer 9 RC

When I updated to SP1 I overlooked that IE9 RC was still installed. If anyone else has also overlooked this you will be relieved to hear that IE9 RC uninstalls just fine in SP1.

After installing SP1, webpages in both FireFox and IE will not load, it just hangs at a white screen. I can verify that I have connection to the internet because I receive a popup from Avast saying my antivirus definitions have just updated.

If I disable either Avast AntiVirus or PC Tools Firewall temporarily, the pages will load. Weeeird.

I've uninstalled both Avast and PC Tools Firewall. Then I reinstalled the Firewall and pages will load up. I reinstalled the AntiVirus and now webpages won't load unless I disable the AntiVirus.
