Have a Compaq Preasario C700 laptop.
    It had Vista on it.
I managed to format, with puppy linux, the HD to NTFS
XP install OEM CD says no HD available.
disabled sata in bios, (it suggested that legacy OS installs may need this)

I am stuck. I want to put XP SP3 on this laptop and am having a bear of a time.

    Any advice appreciated... :)

    Hello,
You are going to have to slipstream the SATA drivers into the XP installation disc using nlite. According to the specs of your computer, you have an Intel GML960 chipset.

You will have to slipstream the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. You will need to use something like Winrar to extract the files you need from the exe file.

Any chance you could walk me thru this? I have no clue what to do here...

The Interl matrix storage manager site you ink above has 2 DLs: iata_enu.exe and iata_cd.exe I don't know which one to use, or what to do with it...

    Thanks...

instructions at http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/wind...d-disk-drives-during-windows-xp-installation/ seem straight forward enough, until we gwt to " Browse to the directory where you extracted the driver files, and then select Open." it didn't seem to have any instructions for that. I don't know what drivers it is speaking of, or when in the instructions we extracted them...

Or i missed it big time. iata_enu.exe and iata_cd.exe will not open with winrar.

    Help please...

    Hello,
I am sorry, I did not link to the correct download. It is here. This is the floppy version which you can extract the files from. Sorry. If these drivers do not work use this one.

Just a reminder. Remember to enable SATA in BIOS.
