I was on my computer Friday night when it said that my motherboard was not up to date. So I put in the disk that came along with it and and installed updates using liveupdate and the drivers. It worked like normal for the rest of the night. When I came home on Saturday and wanted to put on some music, the computer went to a blue screen with writing on it for about half of a second and then crashed. Then I got this message whenever the computer was turned on:

BIOS recovery requested. Starting BIOS recovery.
Please insert USB flash drive with BIOS file.
Checking for USB device... Device not found!
This happened three times and then it would say checked too many times and was restarting.

Anytime I turned computer on this would happen until the monitor stopped receiving a signal from the computer. The cable to monitor is in my graphics card because my motherboard doesn't have anything to send to the monitor. I'm not a computer expert so i came on here for help. How do I get the monitor to receive the signal again and how do I do this BIOS recovery.

update: after trying to turn the computer on a bunch of times again it finally went to a screen fully black with white writing after i opened up the side of my computer. It said something about starting computer and its parts, and then it said something about CMOS and i had two options, either to setup or start windows normally, i chose normally and than i had the option of safe mode or run regularly and i chose regularly, its working again but I think there could be something still wrong with it, what should I do?

What kind ( manufacturer ) of computer is it? How old is it? Is it keeping correct time? What OS are you using?

I think your disc tried to do a BIOS update in Windows and it failed. When you restarted the BIOS/CMOS asked you to try the update again. When you didn't update manually, eventually, it recovered the old version from some sort of fail-safe mode. I'd count myself lucky.

I think you should be OK. Ask you dad about the motherboard out of date message. That would be unusual; are you sure it wasn't Windows that wanted to be updated?
