I installed DriverWise and there is one item I'd like to know about, if someone can help me. It is:

    dump_iaStor.sys 0x88b13000 Unknown N/A N/A C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\dump_iaStor.sys

I also would like to ask why it shows two drivers loaded for SUPERAntiSpyware when I am running only the free version and it is strictly run on demand?? Why would drivers load with Windows?

    Hi

Driver finder apps are a PITA at times, and I never recomend them as they can list drivers that you do not need, they often state that your driver is out of date when its not, however in your case this dump_iaStor.sys is the Intel Matrix SATA driver.

But right click and choose properties on that file and check the Details tab to see who the creator is? I have a few dump files in drivers folder, for ATA drivers and a legacy audio one and those are ok.

What are the driver file names? as far as I know SuperAntiSpyware will load services and not drivers.

Drivers load with Windows all the time, if they didnt Windows would not work.

Personally I would get rid of that app as its likely to tell you to update things that do not need updating as many hardware drivers, do not need updating. Just check your Device manager for any yellow ! marks and if you have any let us know what they are next too and also let us know what Make and Model your PC is if its from the likes of Dell, HP, Acer etc or what the Motherboard make and Model is if its a homebuild PC?

This will help if you dont know the info needed above

Thank you for your answer. The program DriverView just lists the drivers you have, nothing more. I misled you because I referred to "Driver finder" instead of DriverView. I apologize for that.

The reason I questioned the one driver is because there was no info given, like with everything else, but I think it's ok. I was questioning SAS because, since I do not have it set to run at startup (it is just the free version) I wondered why 2 drivers would be shown (in DriverView) as running.

    I appreciate your answer.

I would like some info about backup software. Can you help me or should I post elsewhere?

David, A Q. Is Speccy about the same as Belarc free advisor? Better than? I've used it for years to print out info or to look at whats installed.

    Hi

I think that the app is listing all items of driver related files, while many are not even active as in the dump ones, they are in the driver folder

(this holds drivers for items that you dont have installed, but at a later date could), if in the dump_iaStor.sys you open the file location and then

right click and choose properties of that file, you will see in the details tab the creator of the files info.

Just finally checked SAS and it loads two system drivers (SASDIFSV64.SYS and SASKUTIL64.SYS for me), but they seem to only be active if you have the

application open, may need to restart once you have fully closed SAS down, the DriverView app again and see if the files are loaded, but they are normal

    for this application.

They dont seem to offload themsleves once the app is closed, but if you reboot and then check with DriverView they should be gone, but only if you dont

have SAS set to start at boot.

I would start a new thread in the software forum for this question and do a quick search also on backup as I as well as others have posted alot on

backups and what apps to use etc over the past year or so, but when you have a question do start a new thread as its best to have all your info in one

thread of your own, opposed to tagging your question onto an older post.

Yeah similar and is it better, well it depends on what info you want, personally I like Everest, but Speccy works fine as does SIW and Belarc, you takes

your choice in what app your happy with, but do give Speccy a try and see what you think

Thanks for your very nice answer. I will go ahead and post in the software forum, and do the search you suggested.

I tryed Speccy. I really like it. Thank You. It gives CPU temp, fan speed, ect. More usable info on whats installed and how it's working than Belarc. Belarc shows installed up-dates or missing up-dates. Program ID #'s and key codes. Between the 2 they both show whats installed.

Nikilet, I'll look for your post in Software. I use a 2nd hard drive to use Ghost as a back up. It's what I have and used to it.
