Morning, This is my first time posting on this board. I'm trying to download from majorgeeks and get the message: C:\DOCUME~1\ADMIN2~1.WYA\LOCALS~1\Temp\cJqzUqg9.exe.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

Consequently, the downloads won't load and I'm not sure how to take care of the message. Can anyone help?

    Thanks

    Hi

What I would do is to close your internet browser and then delete your temps and cookies, and if possible download and run CCleaner and its Cleaner only which will also delete temp folder locations.

To delete temps from Internet Explorer just right click the desktop icon if available choose Properties then under Browsing History click Delete (note I do not know your version of browser so this is just a rough guideline)

Also can boot into Safe Mode (F8 at boot) and then try and delete the files.

Are you using a download manager application, if so stop using it and download again.

Mmm I'm sure I noticed another reply here with a good suggestion as in what is the name of the application you are trying to download off Majorgeeks, do please give us a link to it also?

I just wish to rule out any issues with a server change we had yesterday and if the file is on the forum and not the main downloads page then it may need looking into more.

Also when you are saving the file choose SAVE and not RUN.

Thank you for your help. I've done what you've suggested and still got the message:

"C:\DOCUME~1\ADMIN2~1.WYA\LOCALS~1\Temp\zAzhpV68.exe.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

Try again later, or contact the server administrator."

I've loaded several items off the site yesterday morning but by yesterday late afternoon I started getting the message.

I'm trying to load "Anti-Virus | PC Tools AntiVirus Free Edition 8.0.0.624" , but it's happened with others as well, for instance "Anti-Spyware | SUPERAntiSpyware 4.50.0.1002"

Are all the downloads you are trying to use security software?

The reason I ask, is that sometimes malware will block it from downloading.

I just downloaded Superantispyware with no issues.

One other thing you should try: Specifically for SAS, there are 4 options for downloads. The first one is 'Author's Site'. Try downloading from each of the different locations.

    Hi

as well as answrring laura's questions above could you let us know what broswer type and version you are using?

If your using IE then try Firefox and vice versa (assuming you already have them installed or can download them)

An alternate option if the cause is as Laura mentions malware, then boot into Safe Mode (F8 at boot and choose Safe Mode with Networking) and see if you can download.

Thank you everyone for your help. I haven't tried IE yet. I've been using Firefox. I'm worried there's a virus of some kind roaming around my computer. I'll go and try loading it using IE. Otherwise I'll try safe mode. Thank you for those suggestions.

I had my dh save it to a usb drive thinking I could load it that way on to my computer. If the other things don't work do you think that might?

Thanks again. I appreciate the help a lot!

Yes, you can install programs through the usb. Have your husband change the names of the install files, though, before you install them. For example, have him change superantispyware.exe to sas.exe

Since you do think this might be malware, be aware that if, after you get these programs installed, and you do want help from Major Geeks in removal, you will need to head over to our Malware Forum and go through all steps in READ & RUN ME FIRST Malware Removal Guide (incl. spyware, virus, trojan, hijacker)

Thanks! I booted into safe mode last night and was able to download pctools. I've subscribed to them and I'm running a full scan right now to see what's what.

I haven't tried downloading any other anti-virus programs in regular mode yet, so we'll see how it goes after the scan is finished. Hopefully everything will be fine. If not I'll be certain to move over the the proper forum.

Thanks again! Have a great day.
