Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

Guy brought in a Toshiba Vista laptop that wouldn't boot, says it was given to him by his sister. He wanted to clean it out on his own, so he deleted all of his sister's documents, files, programs, etc.

He wanted to be really thorough about it, so he tried to delete everything pertaining to his sister's stuff - including all .sys files...

    Makes sense to me...roflmao

"He shoots he deletes" - Wonder how long it took him to go through and work out what files belonged to his sister, or did he just delete on mass?

Sounds like a re-install waiting to happen.

Yeah, he used some program (Delete Doctor? Something like that - I don't know) to find and delete files - it obviously worked, because the machine was as dead as a doornail...

No MS or Toshiba disk, of course, and no $$$, so I just DBAN'ed it and installed Mint 10. Works like a charm, he's happy, I'm happy...

And, I told him to leave his syster's stuff alone...;)

WOW, Delete Doctor, could do with that for work sometimes ;) if it was in a medical scenario, we would have the PC in A&E (ER) triage for a bit then just call the symptoms "idiopathic deletus-itus" :)

Hey if all parties are ok then jobs a goodun.

HA! David, forgot you worked in a hospital - I can imagine a program like Delete Doctor could come in handy sometimes...maybe you could burn some copies, give them to all the nurses who have problems with their bosses! :-D :guns :-D

I hate to say it, but this guy must be dumb as a stump. As Rikky pointed out, there had to have been some kind of warning about destroying system files.

I don't judge 'em, I just nuke 'em...;)

Yep - maybe David could write a review about the program in Rikky's Review Forum, let us know how well it deletes doctors...

I've never used delete doctor but just on the experiences of your friend I would say it works really freakin good:-D

Works well, especially if you need to delete something that doesn't want to die, like a virus that loads on start up, because Delete Doctor can stomp on it before it's got a chance to start.
