Restoring WLM

Windows Live Mail:

WLM is installed on my laptop as a POP3 account. The reason, is so I have the ability to create message rules. WLM won’t allow message rules for IMAP or HTTP email.

Because I needed to restore my computer, I exported all my email messages so I wouldn’t loose them. After restoring my system, I imported the messages. The problem is: when they are imported they automatically are placed in the ‘Imported Folder’. I have hundreds of messages in several subfolders under the Inbox in that ‘Imported folder’.

Naturally, when I set up WLM after restoring my system, I again created a POP3. How do I move all the subfolders in the ‘Imported Folder’ to the new Inbox so I can set up the same message rules?? Thanks

Yes & No. I was hoping to drag & drop all of the restored subfolders at once.. and place them under my new Inbox, but that isn't possible. I can however, drag and drop all the email in a particular subfolder to a new subfolder under my new Inbox.

Maybe it's a blessing in disguise. It forces me to do some (a lot <grin>) house cleaning. I really don't need to save all the emails. Thanks

 

You may be able to circumvent that by logging on to your email account via web browser, i.e. using the webmail interface with your account instead of using your email client, and creating rules/filters that will be applied at the mail server level. Then, if you've created new folders on your server for this purpose, synchronize your email client's folders with those on the server. I've tested this with my gmail IMAP account with success.
