My Disk 2 of Call of Duty 2 is cracked. But I have it backed up. Any hope?

I have all the other disks for the game and the Key Code, but Disk 2 is cracked from the inner hole all the way to the outside.

What I do have is a back up of the hard drive it was installed upon when it was running fine (another notebook though).

Is there any way I can possibly transfer the files that were on the Disk 2 from the backup to the new installation on a new computer?

The more I think about this the harder it seems to be. Will I have to create a 'new' Disk Two with the files (maybe compressed) and just feed it into the machine during its usual installation proceedure?

    Help!

I hate to say it but I honestly don't think thats even possible. The files don't just simply transfer, they unpack and interlink etc etc, the info on in the install on HDD isn't the same as the disc exactly.
What might work though, at least worth a try is a total transfer.
It depends on the game and system but I have many times used a storage drive (which I always use for game installs so my C drive doesn't fill up with games).
I've taken the drive and plugged it into other PC's and played the game with many different games, some work, some don't.
So, in theory it's possible if you transfer the entire install folder for the game, copy and paste it into you porg files folder (or whatever folder you want to install it to) then sned a short cut for the .exe to desktop and fire it.
It might work, I'd actually be interested in the outcome.

I will say though , in no way have I ever tried this, it IS a theory based on a similar process. Do this totally at your own risk.

I was able to run Call of Duty fine using the version on my portable drive. No luck yet with the CoD2 though....it gave me a Directx error message...I had the correct version of Directx.

Possibly my video settings need tweaking...or I need a nocd crack which I had installed in the Call of Duty.

Maybe that's why cod ran and cod2 didn't.

    I will keep experimenting.

    Thanks

The nocd didn't work. Possibly my video can't handle it, or a patch is required. I know one is out there.
