Cannot uninstall Sp1 in Win 7 64 bit

I need to uninstall Sp1 to do a repair install and when I try from the "view updates to uninstall it or from command prompt it will not uninstall. I get the message that"an error occurred,Not all the updates were uninstalled." I just want to do a repair install instead of a clean install,but I need to remove Sp1. Any help would be appreciated.:confused

 

How could you uninstall SP1 isn't that the base of the OS?

 

I don't think you can do a repair install if you have sp1 installed and you use the Windows 7 installation disk without SP1. You can uninstall Sp1 (KB 976932) by going to your installed updates and selecting uninstall,but like I said I get the error as stated in my post.

 

Be careful on uninstalling SP1 unless doing so is absolutely necessary.

Most newer (<5 year old) motherboards will not install and/or boot properly with "original" XP (no SP1 or above) or older versions of Windows (98, 2000, ME).

* If you have a pre-built PC (Dell, HP, etc.) that shipped with SP1 or higher do not attempt to remove SP1.

* If it is a custom build, the mfr's spec page on the board may have info. on this. If not, a general rule of thumb is - if the board uses DDR2 or DDR3 memory - keep SP1 to be on the safe side.

I beat my head against a wall several years ago before I discovered this.
