Typically, whoever spends the most money wins. Primarily because a frightening majority of American voters believe everything they see on TV, so the candidates have to put out a ridiculous number of ads.

Not surprising at all. It would be shocking for a president to Not run again.

As Tibbs says, it's all about the ads and the traveling to speak to the masses. You need money for that. There are a lot of people willing to give it to get their party in too. rolleyes

Don't they advertise in other countries?

We in Canada are in the 10th day of upcoming elections. It will be short and sassy. Many promises of course. Our elections are DULL (read - somewhat civil) compared to our southern neighbors. :-D

Don't think he'll get re-elected.It was the recession that got him elected and it'll be the recession that will stop him being re-elected.

Governments always get kicked out during a recession.

Hope there's a higher class of female candidate's next time:confused I still don't think people dislike Obama enough to vote in Palin if she turns out to be the republican nomination.:-D

The question I ask, sincerely, where "IS" there a good candidate? :confused

I've voted in elections since JFK.

Many times in the past, I've been forced to vote of the lesser of two evils, but this time... 'he draws a deep breath' and pauses to reflect... :cry

Cool... then we're all in and we've become a fourth party.
I can see it now, 'headlineWashington DC, read all about it, the MG party swept DC today and when finished, they bagged up all the trash and returned all to their own districts.
Thundering applause was heard about the land and there was great rejoicing and dancing in the streets as shrubberies were passed out to everyone.

I assumed the president wouldn't leave anyways (unless he had something so very important) but I don't see him being tired of it. IMO I see people disliking people no matter what they do while being president. Even people that think the president atm is bad and dislikes him. And what happens when they finally get the person they want/like into the seat. And later on that person didn't go and do what they said they would? Is that going to make the people post about the person they actually voted for or no?

I just can't believe he has the audacity to actually run again! He saw what happened in Nov., when all of his fellow Dems got the boot.. the people have spoken and they don't want his craptastic policies :-D

Yeah, but the only time a sitting President has not run for re-election was when he got assassinated before he could do so. Not running is simply not acceptable.

I watched a show the other night about America's most hated family with Louis Theroux.

    http://www.holymoly.com/reviews/tv/tv-review-louis-theroux-america’s-most-hated-family-crisis54891

They now believe that Obama is the Devil, that is far right religious conservatives believe the Democratic president is the Devil. When Bush was in power Liberals and conspiracy nuts thought Bush was the Devil in incarnate.

I'm beginning to believe there's a connection between who is the devil and the political persuasion of the current president.

But it will obviously require a little more research.

    :-D

The bottom line is what has he achieved since being in office as that is the only benchmark to consider and then you have your answer as to if you need to change or not

Do remember tho that you need to consider more then anything of what has been archived for the vulnerable as that is how the world will judge him

Well, I seem to remember L.B.J. saying that, (From memory) "I will not seek, nor will I accept the nomination for re-election for President of the United States".

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyndon_B._Johnson

So "Tricky Dicky" Nixon won the next elections in '68 and got stuck with Kennedy's and Johnson's pile of crap dilemmas like Vietnam War, Civil Rights activists, the height of the Cold War, and the Hippy movement in general.
George Bush Sr. was the only serving President to run for re-election and not win it, A.F.AI.K.

Not one of Obama's pre-election promises has even tried to be fulfilled is what most people are complaining about. Then again, that's nothing unusual for a President, or any Politician.

    someone emailed this to me

    QUOTE OF THE CENTURY:

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."

Don't worry to all you crazy foreign type peoples. It looks even stranger from inside than it does from the outside.

But it's really simple. We have two parties. The Black and the White Party. There's no difference other than the color. They're all out to stomp on anyone else who tries to climb up the ladder, and spend all the rest of their time fighting with one another such that they've never gotten further than the first rung.

Well...obviously when you are of a certain political persuasion, the leaders of the opposite political persuasion are considered unacceptable. So someone who thinks poorly of the conservative banner-carriers probably feels exactly the opposite about the liberal banner-carriers, and vice versa.

  37. mjnc

    mjnc MajorGeek

Well, I have to confess, I don't know what a neo con is. :confused :-D

Mostly, I agree with Sgt. Tibbs' comment.
However, I don't "think poorly of the conservative banner-carriers" simply Because they are conservative banner-carriers.
I find them unacceptable because I have heard them speak and usually I find their comments,
their accusations and their political directives to be horrendous.
But then, that is sort of repeating what Tibbs said.

Usually, but not always, it is a futile effort to try and convince someone "on the other side" that their thinking,
their evaluation and perception and even their cherished Facts are in error.
If such an effort IS successful, I think it usually comes after repeated and sustained engagement.

For most people, once they are committed to a particular position, they will always find a way
to justify that position, at least to their own satisfaction.

I have a strong distaste for the seemingly endless tax cuts for the rich & corporations over the last thirty years without merit! Concurrent with the exportation of millions of once American jobs.

"Trickle down economics" has ALWAYS been a lie, and in FACT it has resulted in the exact OPPOSITE. It has been a devious deceit purposely perpetrated through the "collective bargaining" of very rich and greedy folks.

I am behind the POTUS, and hope he can circumvent the insidious propaganda machine delineating misinformation and outright roadblocks to the success of My country, with ill-will and outright indifference to real, regular American folk.:wave

Sure, 'cept the Barry Soetoro B.S.:crap! I am probably still naive for my age, and I have hope for the possibilitythat some democratic ideals for "We the People" may be realized.

If I have to, I will go all "Mad Max" 'round here and start my own revolution. There is only so far I can be pushed down.

However the main neo con behaviour is completely unacceptable, freedom to collectively bargain shall NOT be taken away!
