I have Cyberlink power2go software to try and burn movies from my hard drive to a DVD. The movies play fine on my computer but won't play on my home DVD player or my PS3. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

    Hi,
I am by no means an expert in this field (or any at that :-D), but I believe you must be burning the dvd's in the wrong format, the dvd files on your computer may be AVI files and there for will need to be converted into dvd format, there is software available to do this (your may well have the tool for it built in to the Cyberlink software). I have took the liberty to seach for tools/software that can do this for you ....

    hope this helps.

Was it part of the OEM software package that came preinstalled on your computer? If so, it may not have all the features that the retail version offers such as DVD-Video disc creation.

Some home DVD players only like certain DVDs. Two of mine accept both DVD+R and DVD-R. But the third player will only accept DVD-R so not everything I burn will play in it.

Look at what type of DVDs you are using, perhaps that's the problem.

Thanks all. I am trying the software programs, haven't tried them all, but it seems each step of the process needs another program/software.

My cyberlink was OEM, but I upgraded to a newer (still free) version and frankly it sucks...I'm sure it's 'operator error' though.

I am using Sony DVD-R. So far they won't play on a newer DVD home player or an X-box 360.

I'm frustrated. I wish I had a step-by-step tutorial, in the meantime I'll try to figure it out.

    Thanks again

DVDFlick is what you want. It is fairly easy. I'll just mention that in step #3 it doesn't explicitly state that setting the encoding to NTSC or PAL is under the Video tab. That setting is very important and can easily be overlooked (at least by me). Basically, PAL for Europe or NTSC for the Americas.

    Re: DVD burning/problem

Hey thanks for the info on DVD Flick. It is pretty easy to use. I have a problem with the program shutting down though. I can't get any tech support from their website so i'm losing projects everytime. any thoughts...
