I thought it might be usefull to have a HIJACK THIS scan of my computer in case I ever get infected, so I would know what a clean scan (presumably) looked like. So I installed it, and tried to scan and save a log, but I got a warning pop up that there were some entries it couldn't access for some reason, and to right-click the Icon and select "run as administrator" (since I have Vista). When I tried to, I found that there is no "run as administrator" choice for this program. I think all my other programs do. Any ideas?:confused

If you suspect you are having malware problems or even just want to check to see if there is any malware on your PC, you don't need or want HijackThis. It is a specialty program and is not a full blown malware scanning program. In fact, it does not scan and detect malware at all. That was not it's purpose and for last few years HijackThis has really become less and less useful too. Your antivirus and antispyware programs are much much much ( get the point ) more useful than HijackThis.

If you are worried about malware, the procedure in the below sticky thread is what you need to run:

OK, Thanks for your reply! Actually, I realize Hijack This isn't an anti malware program. Also, I don't think I have malware. I just thought it might be useful/interesting to educate myself about what should be in my computer, especially in the event I ever get some nasty infection. Anyway, not a big deal. Later. :wave

    You're welcome.

Okay but HijackThis log do not provide enough information to address this concern either which is why procedures are much more complex these days then in the past. ;)
