I am in the process of doing some landscaping this year. Part of which I want a nice flower bed in the front of the home, bordered off with some sculptured stone. I figure some solar lamps would look good.

What do you all recommend on solar lamps? Also, was thinking of getting some solar lights to shine up on the house at night.

Be aware that, for the most part, solar lamps only last a few hours at night.

Well I can say that through trial and error like many that solar lights next to flower beds are not as good as I was hoping for. Many of them "weren't bright enough" and obviously the others didn't stay lite long enough time. At that time I just bought the lights that looked like solar lights but really had a cord going under ground and plugged into the socket. But I did know that some people had nices actual solar ones but they were like high prices and I think it was like high prices and they came in pack of 2. Heck if anything buy and test them a night or 2 without being in the ground. And if you don't like them then take them back get your money and buy the next type of solar lights.

Good strategy. Thanks! I really am just looking ahead because for me, the biggest problem at the moment is the condition of the yard. I moved into that house in 2004 and the yard has been a battle. It's Bermuda grass, but it's nowhere near the level of my next door neighbor's yard. It's not the deep green, almost blueish that it should be. I fertilize, but something is wrong.

I bought a soil sample kit and I will see what the results are tonight when I get home. But if I can't start turning it around in the next couple of weeks, I'm hiring someone to come do the fertilizing.

Yeah I agree with silas they all suck:-D Get the 12V garden lights with ultrabright LED's in,they just plug in like a phone charger.

More work routing the cable and finding an outlet but well worth the effort.

The other thing you can look into is fibre optic kits, they have a fibre optic cable with light shining through. What's great about these kits is they are customizable,so you can build it one way then get tired take it apart and build it differently with the lights in different places like lego, need a power source to power the light 'singular'.

Nice piece of kit but nicely more expensive too.
