Thanks to all for the best wishes. I've been absent from MG for a week, so sorry for the late reply.

My doctor altered my blood pressure tablets about 2 weeks ago and I had a fall due to dizziness last Tuesday week. As a result I am in hospital and using their NetKiosk terminal.

I severely bruised my groin and as a result have been hardly able to walk since then. I managed to get to this terminal today ($2 for 20 minutes) in the hospital to login in.

I am OK but very sore and not able to put much weight on my left leg at the moment. Probably another week before I am independently mobile so please excuse any late responses from me.

Hope those Tornadoes and Texas fires did not affect any of our MG'ers. :major

Oops, just noticed that you are in the hospital. How's the food? Do the nurses treat you well? Hope you get better soon!!

 

Thanks guys for the best wishes. I made it from the first floor to the second floor via walker and lift to get on the Net again today.

Food is good but not enough for a big guy like me. I told the doc thta I had lost around 8lbs (4Kg's) in 10 days and I cannot afford to lose that weight. I am trying to put on 30 lbs (15 Kg.s) not lose more. He is going to talk to the nurses about it.

I am getting more mobile each day and can put more weight on my left leg but cannot go anywhere without the walker at present.:cool

I'll be in hospital until at least the end of Easter, anyhow.

I know just how you feel Barry, I have had my share of hospital food over the last few years and it is not very fulfilling to say the least.

I hope the pain goes away soon for you and you are able to get around without the walker.

Thanks Bill, still on the walker but I am able to take a full stride (most times) on my bung leg. Doc says I am doing well.

As for the food I am ordering more and getting more, so I hope the weight comes back on.

Don't know how much longer I will be in here (2 weeks tomorrow), but am looking forward to getting back into my usual routine..I missed all the Easter sales, damnit.

Doc says I can go home anytime I get properly mobile. I am standing a bit more each day without totally relying on the walker.

Blood pressure is now the main problem with it being unusually high (for me) and dropping a fair bit when I stand up. No dizziness though, so the danger of falling is minimised.:cool

Hope to be home again by early next week.:major

Just saw my hospital doc. The ups and downs of my blood pressure are proving a problem. I've switched from my high walker to the low walker so that is progress.

I was able to shower standing up, for the first time, today so that is good.

I think I will be off home on Tuesday, next, if progress continues. Still have not tried to walk unassisted as yet. That is the next major step (pun intended). :-D

Well, I'm home after 3 weeks and 4 days. Total cost to me AUD$225, $200 dollars excess and $25 Incidentals + my monthly Hospital benefits membership fee. No having to mortgage, or sell, my house to pay the medical fees. Thank God for our medical benefits scheme in Australia. It included 2 lots of Xrays and an MRI and admission to a private hospital with excellent service and staff, for 3 weeks or so.

Problem was mainly getting my blood pressure under control and the hospital doctor finally said I could go home.

Now walking slowly without an aid in my place. Still not perfect but better.

An appointment due with my own doctor in a week and the hospital doctor in a month. So far so good.

Good news that you are home Barry now you can start to recuperate.

Your medical system sound like ours, as long as you have medicare the service is tops.

In the last few years i have had so many operations and scans the bill is well over a million euros and without my insurance it would not have been possible.
My heart goes out to those who can not get medical assistance .

 

Glad you're home Bazza and standing on your own feet. Now you need to recuperate.

No more nurses for you Bazza so you blood pressure should now stabilize further.

Great that you have excellent medicare. As far as I remember it wasn't that way decades ago as a cousin of mine who emigrated to Australia saved aussie $ to come back home. Unfortunately he was injured in an accident and therefore lost all his savings. So he stayed in down under and then met a woman. Well the rest is history.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

 

I think it is the doctors that put my blood pressure up, not the nurses. :-D
