Its natural progression and XP users are hard done to with not being able to run IE9, and preview are just that previews and its very possible that compatibility may change, happened in the past. (likely wont have support for Vista as Microsoft imho want to leave its legacy hidden, never had good press at all until NOW when a IE version is not compatible...go figure)

I will hazard a guess that IE10 will be developed with Windows.Next (ie. Win8) in mind and will be focusing on the kernel etc that Win7 has that Vista has not, so the back developement or regression is not going to be stable enough and Microsof have had enough bad press over compatability to last a lifetime with Vista.

I dont know why Computerworld cannot make sense of it, prestty easy as tech moves forward not backwards, and its not always good practice to try and retro fit, as it never works properly, plus with Microsoft back on a 2yr OS release it seems in the timeframe for an IE10 release to take advantage of what hardware and developement will be around in 2yrs time.

But leaving Vista users out in the cold...huh thougth everyone hated Vista so there are no Vista users anyhow ;) they are all using XP so stuffed anyway with IE next versions.

Should just rename it 'Windows 7 IE'.

Problem solved, none of these conversations will happen then.

    "Pffhh Microsoft sucks,Windows 7 IE won't work on my Vista!Errm?Wait a minute?"

    :-D

They should do,I'd probably even buy it?If it only works on Windows 7 it must be awesome!

    :-D

I don't think this is Microsoft's choice anyway,I think they coded an alternative version but vista just wouldn't let them install it:-D

Maybe one day firefox will be win7 and up only. Since they only support windows 2000 and up.

Though, I did see a video where some guy/gal got ff4 to work on windows 98.

Who knows one day they may limit Windows versions with their browser, I hope not as its a good allrounder to have for some users of Windows, as even XP is now dropping in the statistics to Win7 at a good rate, One web metrics company had Win7 ahread of XP but I cannot find their stats.

Looks like MS telling the world once again what the world already knew: Vista is the adopted kid who gets shuffled to the back in the family photos.
I only use IE for my XP Updates - and XPs are numbered anyhow. So, not surprised it didn't get 10.

I'm using vista...I only used ie when I first setup this computer for the first time. Got the internet up and running, then went to MajorGeeks, and downloaded Opera. I use both Opera, and google chrome for my web browsing fun.

About three months ago, my daughter came to me, about there being no room on the screen to see her game....I look and found ie up and running with eleven extra tool bars. When ever she downloaded a new game, she just click on everything as fast, as she could....a few were hard to find, on the computer, so that I could get rid of them. Only have two now, winamp, and comcast, because some times comcast does not like google chrome..... I use comcast for everything TV, phone, and of course the internet, for
    $148 a month.

    Hi Wobbles

The only thing is IE9 or any of them do not install toolbars the user or various applications do if you are not careful in unticking the option, mainly in free applications.

IE10 as this topic is while a Platform Review (Platform Preview = Raw as hell version) at present is a bare bones and you have no menus for toolbars to actually attach themselves too.

Still baffled why we are worried about NOT getting IE10 when Win Update started offering IE9 only a few weeks ago.

Sometimes the latest and greatest is broken on delivery. Wait until the bug are worked out....

Its the news media on all levels need to have a earth shattering story, when in most cases they are a null event, by the time IE10 is out in its release version, you will likely see the % of users on XP being lower than they are now, Vista will be next to none, and Windows 7 will be the most used or tied with XP, with likelihood of Windows.next having just been released 6 months earlier.
