Where can I get a free download of this ? I have older programs that I like that won't run on Win 7. Microsoft seems to be giving away Vista and Win 7 but I cannot find Windows XP...everything I googled was for periphial software and upgrades.

Guess I'll have to buy it, huh ???:confused

I'd like XP to replace my Vista program, so I'd love to find a free download, too.

I wonder if I can transfer it from my old computer? Do I dare try?

Yes, you would still have to purchase it. ;)

If you have the installation disc, you can load it on your other machine, but you would not be able to register it since you have already installed it once and still have it. So, I guess my answer is no. ;)

I Googled Free XP and came up with a list of sites offering free downloads. Are these just temporary downloads we have to pay for later?

I have XP on my old computer. Can I transfer it to my new one? How would that affect Vista? Could I then delete Vista. I really hate it and wish my old XP back where it still has support options or not.

Darn it, just seen your answer. It was installed when I bought my earlier comptuer so I have no disk. Shoot!

You might be able to find an unused copy of XP on ebay, but just be careful that it is a genuine edition thats never been used.

    Scary stuff!

I saw that torrent offers free programs. I tried to download Bit Torrent from MG but it wouldn't install. Might be something I did so I'll try it again later.

Do not, and I will repeat, do not try to download a copy of XP off a torrent site. First off, it will be an illegal copy and second, in all probability, it will be infected!!!! If you want to install XP, you need to purchase a legit copy!!

And you will run into issues if you try to wipe Vista and install XP. You will have a problem gathering all the drivers for your system.

I never go against what MG advises so I will leave torrent alone.

    Thanks.
