Nope, nothing to do with superstition.... here is a link to the town I live in.

    http://www.ustream.tv/channel/main-street-port-dover

Every Friday 13th , thousands of bikes decend on the town.... this being middle of summer, nice weather and the 50th anniversary.... this one is a biggie.

The webcam is positioned badly and really does not reflect how many people and bikes are here, the cam is the centre of town but the majority of people are nearer the bottom end (which you can't see).

It's loud man, thousands of bikes and not 1 muffler in sight lol

    http://www.pd13.com/

    The official website.

It's all cool and everything but sleeping from Wednesday night to Sunday is pretty much a no go, also no cars are allowed into town from the town borders, so when I come home from work tonight I will have to argue with the cops to let me home, yes they are supposed to give us residents passes, but I didn't get one lol

Anyway, just thought I'd share. :)

Our biggest local computer/electrical/bedding store had a Friday 13th sale with most stuff 13-40% off except Apple (fixed pricing, of course).

I purchased a copy of Nero 8 (out of date I know) after a tech advised me that it will definitely run on W7 (just use the defaults) that originally sold for around $200 for $40 and an "Introductory Computer Home bundle" for a laptop of $22, marked $49. Additional keyboard, mouse, external speakers, etc. I don't expect too much quality for the price but worth a try for a relative who is hard on anything electrical. ;)

I'm still breathing...Nothing TOO weird happened, and I didn't fall down the cellar steps, but upon coming back to the flat after work, I heard a movement beneath the metal fire escape steps as I entered my key into the door, (I had a big golfing umbrella with a nasty metal end) ... immediately span around, went down the steps and jabbed it towards the noise! It was just some couple having a bit of nooky roflmao I was going nuts at them saying "You scared the bejesus outta me"

I almost skewered one of them :-D Could have been worse, could have been alot worse, oh and I made loads a tips at work, Dave!

Well it's been a large one, not that I've seen any of it apart from around my street and the floods of bikes comming in. But the radio said Police count at 1:30pm was upwards of 150,000 people, so I'm guessing since the stream has been steady that it probably past 200,000 people and I'm guessing in excess of 50,000 bikes.

@abz1nthe.... PD is on the north shore of Lake Eire, southern Ontario, Canada.

I know my OP may have sounded grumpy, it is a spectacular event, but when you live here it really makes life hard work, sleep tonight will pretty much be a no go lol
But the event is well handled, often big name stars show up, not sure who this year but in the 5 years I've been here I've seen Jessie James (obviously lol) , Dan Akroyd sang in the street band a couple of years ago too.

Also some of the bikes are off the chart, neon lights across the engines, full customs, rare Harleys etc etc.
The cash injection into the town is phenominal and so far as far as I know it's all gone very well.

Oh and as I type someone a block down has just donut burnt out his rear tire lol, that smells nice :-D

It's loud and busy, link to webstream....

    http://www.ustream.tv/channel/main-street-port-dover

I guess I'll have to take a different route to work lol

Like I said in this thread last time, it is spectacular but there's that handful of inconsiderate pricks who give the whole thing a bad name and are the main reason the locals don't look forward to the event.
Example:... Last year a friend of mine who lives right in town would not let some bikers park on her property so they pissed on her flowers and detroyed her lawn by dohnutting across it, Last night at 2:30AM about a block down from me someone thought it would be fun to start his bike and just hold the throttle open at around 5k revs.

It's these idiots who ruin the reputation of the event.

Other than that it's just noisy and a pain, but lots of people have fun, I'm really looking forward to comming home tonight and arguing with the cops about letting me drive to my house, it's funny really, I live about 3 blocks from the roadblock and before you actually get into town and they tell me I can't go any further by car. This doesn't help the event either, just because a shedload of bikers turn up aparently means those of us who live here are not allowed to drive our cars.

    Rant over.

Can you tell I didn't get much sleep last night? :-D

There's always a gathering on F13th, but as you say we do get harsh winters so any that fall in the bad weather period are usually just the hardcore guys and a handful of people drive in by car, mainly just the spring, summer, autum dates get the beer tents and bands etc.

Yesterday actually didn't get as busy as I thought it would, but I guess when it's not actually in the summer those who live hundreds of miles away don't want to make the trip incase the weather turns, at least in summer even if it rains it will still be hot, May is a funny month, in the last 6 years I've seen 40C in May but I've also seen snow lol

One knight, he was thinking about corrupting a young lass. A knight in shining armor came upon them. His steel sword stopped the corruption. Her corruption was safe -> for now. His nickname is now stubby. I couldn't resist a reply. :)

More that it's old. Can we agree to change it to something neutral for now, and then if something comes up that's funny and fresh, you can change it?

Yes, I agree, it is getting old. Was thinking the same thing this morning on the can. I am sure you will write something in the near future that provokes a new title, though. LOL

This was originally a post of motorcycles meeting in a town on Friday the 13th. Keeping with the theme.

He met a girl riding his motorcycle in the park the one evening.
There was an instant spark between them when they locked eyes. She immediately dropped to her knees and laid on the grass at his feet.

As they lay making love, he thought "These taser guns are well worth the money".
