Hi, first post here so excuse me if i've posted in the wrong place.

Am trying to find a newer version of a bios, I can't save any settings in this bios at the minute, it sticks and forces me to reboot. Am trying to do a fresh install and can't change settings to boot from cd rom. Have Tried jumpers and battery method and that doesn't work.

Here are the details I have for it ... Thanks in advance

BIOS OEM: 03/19/2004 For Intel Breeds Hill Chipset - 6.00 PG
    Chipset: Intel 2570 rev 2
    SuperIO: Unknown
    Manufacturer: Unknown
    Motherboard: Breeds Hill

Besides the mobo info, will the info in the change logs help you? I'm a person of bent , will upgrading help your issue? It usually doesn't unless you installed new hardware.;)

One thought is did you remember to remove the electric power before you removed the battery?

Also try F12 during the splash screen to see if that brings up a boot menu for one-time boot options. You may be able to select CD from there.

Have tried all that, yeah removed all power. No idea what my sister has done to this computer but she's done a royal job on it :confused

All I can find indicates it is an Epox board, but it would be best to download Everest and get a true reading of the board.

I've done the everest scan and attached it to post. It is an Epox board, halfway to not confused now

We're batting 1000, aren't we. Not sure where to find the bios. :(

Yes, it looks like that company is out of business with no true website in operation. (in reality, you would have trouble upgrading BIOS with no CDROM available.)

What exactly do you mean by sticking? Does your keyboard work at all in BIOS? When you unplugged the computer and removed the battery for a few minutes, and then put back together and plugged in, was there no message about setting time and date or accepting BIOS defaults?

Try unplugging, remove battery for a few minutes. Unplug the HD, put the battery back, plug in and see if it boots to CD. If it boots to CD then turn off, unplug and reconnect the HD and plug back in and see if you can set to boot from Cd in BIOS. (Maybe forcing the BIOS to see changes in hardware will make it more responsive.)

Thanks for all the help, I found a later version of the bios needed by visiting ftp://72.245.251.214/ and entering epoxsupport as both username and password. It has all epox drivers there. Problem solved now.

Thanks for all the replies! :p

Cool man! Usually one only needs a hint of what to do and then they go off and find the solution themselves, at least the resourceful ones do!;) I'm glad you got it solved despite the posts.;):p:-D
