    So i've been thinking.

    Theory time :-D

If two breeds of equines like a horse and a donkey mate, you get a mule.

Or two canines, like a labrador and a poodle create a labradoodle.

or two species of esox (type of fish) like Northern Pike and Muskellunge create a new breed called Tiger Muskullenge.

Could it be possible that Sasquatch is not really a myth, and is the result of some inter-breeding between two different species of primates?

    i.e. a Human and a Gorilla.. or a chimpanzee?

Is this even possible like with other species?

yep.. I'm bored and the brain is wandering :-D lol

Hell, I think a lot of things are possible.

The possibility of Sasquatch, though, pretty much nil. With all the 'sightings', it would have been proven by now.

    Not necessarily.

If a human and another primate sucessfully mated, the human would obviously be quite embarassed and try to cover up their act.

So they would almost certainly ditch the offspring in the woods, or somewhere else trying to cover up their embarassment.

Now this sasquatch would be the only one of his/her kind, and have no other sasquatches to mate with. eventually it would die of old age and the species would be extinct.

Finding 1 single animal in a continent the size of north america is almost impossible, sure there may be sightings, but coming up with actual proof would be almost impossible.

That original specimen would be long dead by now if we were to base his age off of the very first reported sasquatch sighting. So we would never be able to actually find that specimen to prove it's existance.

(tried to keep the nasty bit as clean, and as scientific as possible)

Only if the two animal types can successfully breed together. To successfully breed together they can't really be different species, they have to share the same genetic make up i.e come from the same blood line.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meiosis

To reproduce there has to be two cells, one from the father and one from the mother, the cells actually recognise the opposite cell and DNA then reproduce,if they don't find them the animal just won't grow.

That's why if two animals can successfully breed they have to have done it before and hence there would be lots of them.

With DNA sequencing though we can theoretically implant animal DNA into human cells ect and trick the cells into reproducing to create and new animal but this is pretty illegal everywhere I believe.

ahhh so it involves more than just being of the same Genus?

I was under the asumption that as long as they were from the same genus (primates) that the species could inter-breed like other genus'.

    (I'm no scientist lol)

    I'm no scientist either:cool

Well I believe the immune system of the female can detect sperm of a different species and kill it before it has a chance to reproduce anyway.

Why? I can't successfully breed with it:-D Maybe if I weren't broke and had a decent car?

Isn't it simply possible that once upon a time, a guy suffering from that ailment that makes some people grow an excess of hair, face and body.... took a stroll through the woods and some smart arse hunter took a picture. All this of course before anyone knew of this hair ailment thing.
So you get a guy who's 6'4" and 250lbs, covered in hair, living out in the woods to avoid attention = Sasquatch....... or it's just Rikky's evil twin :-D

I'm not sure about the whole breeding thing, but I do think it'd be pretty easy to not be seen for as long as you'd like. Just cause it may walk upright and be related to human/ape, doesn't mean it shares ALL of either's
characteristics, it could be nocturnal, or maybe not entirely nocturnal, but low-light vision. A few years back here in East Tennessee, over the course of about 2-4 months there were numerous sighting of a primate looking creature at night around 6-8 counties. http://www.tntrivia.com/skunk_ape.htm
Turn out it was some skunkape. I've never see one or even heard of it. I coon hunt at night about 3-5 night a week, and I've never seen anything strange or unusual. But I believe something is out there :confused

I wish I were 6,4 I'd have carried on playing basketball past my teens:)I wouldn't even mind shaving my whole body every day.

The sasquatch actually has broadband anyway it's no secret, has slightly conservative views and is a computer programmer.
