Hi, for a while now ive been having problem that .txt files and also wordpadfiles and some windows programs like instalation wizards sometimes convert a number of letters into a chinese character for example

    Warranty & Legal Information
NovaLogic Limited Ninety-Day Warranty and License Provisions

this sometimes seem to make the computer to not be able to understand some filenames when installing etc.
I also noticed some cdkey inputs which are supposed to have 4 letters per box but i can just put in 3.

so where did my text inputs go wrong?
I have installed so that my comp can read chinese characters, also japanese
but that shouldnt mess the ones that arent chinese right?
so how do i fix this?

    please helprolleyes

Sorry, I can't help further. :cry
I've never had the need to use Chinese characters.

Unfortunately I do not see a Chinese character here, but just an undefined Unicode character (0xE5B8) in the Private Use Area (see http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Unicode/Character_reference/E000-EFFF).

How do these characters appear in your text documents; are you creating them, or are they downloaded/installed from somewhere?

for me it shows up as chinese characters, that was from an instalation wizard.
but yes, here it looks like something else, even for me it looks like a weird symbol in this forum, not a chinese character, but it was in the instalation wizard.
im not really sure when this started, i think i installed one chinese program a long time ago, but it is removed now. I guess i could reinstall windows and such, but isnt there another way to reset the text input.

this problem apears in.. instalation wizards, text documents, some torrents,
it often causes the comp to not be able to read the file.

i noticed sometimes with cd keys, that i cant input all the characters into the box, just 3/4, like they were too big to fit into the box, maybe this is somehow connected? anyway, something is really strange with the text

and yes, this happens with downloaded documents and programs.
