Good, then I know folks don't have to register as many wouldn't bother. Considering how much great stuff the vault has it would be a shame. I wish I could save the videos as the quality is generally better than youtube etc. but this is their bread and butter so I don't mind.;)

Why thank you. :) I am currently in an Iron Maiden/Avenged Sevenfold phase. :guitar And yes, my cats do seem to like it. And by that I mean, they stay in the room and go back to sleep. LOL

Here is a new favorite of mine... love the attitude! Attitude is everything, it is the foundation of good music, it is the core of "metal" (whatever the **** that means), and it makes all the difference between manufactured music and the real thing. And right below my new favorite is my favorite Avenged Sevenfold song. Because it is awesome. :guitar

There are all sorts of stories about Buddy's temper and his rants and how he would fire a band member at the drop of hat.
Sometimes that did happen but some stories are exaggerated.

There are recordings of Buddy chewing out the band which were recorded secretly by one of the band members.
Most of those were recorded on the bus, but I can't post a link to that since the language is quite harsh.
You can search youtube for Buddy Rich Tapes if you're interested.

The following comment was posted on youtube for a Fake recording of Buddy firing someone on the bandstand.

Buddy and Jerry Lewis were very close friends.

LOL, ya I heard that one on the bus, all 8 minutes or so of it! 'You can't give your all every night like I do, then get off my bus now'?!:-D In one of his interviews I believe he said he punched Sinatra in the head.(expletives deleted) roflmao A drummer has fast hands.;)

    Don't know about that one.
The story I've heard Buddy tell occured when Rich and Sinatra were both with the Tommy Dorsey
band in the late 1930's, during which time they were roomates.
During a rehearsal one day, Buddy did something that made Frank angry and Frank threw a pitcher
of water at Buddy. In Buddy's words, "If I hadn't ducked at just the right time, I wouldn't
be here today. And that's the truth!"

Here's a clip that used to be on YouTube but was removed several years ago due to copyright
    violation.

The camera work, for once, is pretty good and you can really see what he does.

You need to watch this one in fullscreen mode and turn Up the bass enough so you can hear
    the bass drum.

Re: Chick Corea Elektric Band -
Something I had never noticed before - Dave Weckl tilts his snare drum BACK, which is unusual for someone who plays Traditional grip (left hand).
Danny Brubeck told me once that when most drummers see his set Before he plays, they think he plays Match grip (overhand left and right)
'cause he tilts his snare back like that, but he also plays with Traditional grip most of the time, like Weckl.

Roland Kirk was using a technique called Circular Breathing, which you can see plainly at the end.
First time I saw or heard that was in 1967 at a jazz festival when the Buddy Rich band played the Channel One Suite
and Don Menza played a long tenor sax solo.

Here's one from an outstanding album featuring Wes Montgomery on guitar, titled Goin Out Of My Head.
This was arranged and conducted by Oliver Nelson and recorded at Van Gelder Studios in 1965.
    The personnel reads like a who's who of great jazz musicians, like Donald Byrd, trumpet; George Duvivier, bass;
Phil Woods, alto saxophone; Grady Tate, drums and Herbie Hancock, piano.

Sorry about the AD at the end - didn't notice that before. :-o :(

I do love McFerrin's improvisations... and his rendition of Ave Maria. :cloud9

Here's something in return... Robert Wells and Charlie Norman playing Little Joe from Chicago. if you want to skip the intro/interviews in Swedish, the music starts at 0:39 or so.

@mjnc- There's a few others that do cyclic but Rahsaan is the most memorable to me. Also, I see you like the spacey stuff. You're obviously a musician, even drummer to know all that technical stuff, especially since you link to drummerworld!:-D One site that you may like is wolfgangsvault.com, tons of free audio concerts and some select videos. BTW, I love your posts, you put in the extra effort.:wine

@Mimsy I guess the Swedes aren't immune to the Elvis wave.:-D

Thanks for the Kudos, augie - appreciate it. :)
Sometimes I think I'm writing Too Much. :-o

Yes, I am a drummer and I do like some of the ethereal meditation New Age stuff.
Since much of it has No Rhythm, sometimes I like to practice (on a foam cushion)
while listening to something similar on a music channel.

OMG, better be careful where you tread. Some people would have you Hung for Heresy! LOL
    Besides, Cream was a TRIO.

Here are a few more samples.
Have to go with the ones I can find on YouTube. rolleyes

She's from Australia; quit high school and came to the USA 'cause all she wanted to do was play.

Yup, her parents sent her off too with their best wishes at 16 as far as I know. I wonder how ecstatic they were?:confused Is she a real step ahead musician or just another flash in the pan? I'd like another 30 years to find out.;) I'll leave you with one of my faves.:)
