I have heard there is a program that can be downloaded to look on another pc/laptop, has anyone any idea if its true and if so, where I could get it ?

So I can see what she is viewing on her laptop, but without her knowing (I know its sneaky, but she is 12 years old)

I cant take the laptop away, she needs it for school

I want to find out if my daughter is accessing websites I have asked her not to and if she is on gambling type websites (I have tried blocking them from her laptop, but I dont know if I was succesful in blocking them)

I really dont want any surprises or large men on my doorstep demanding money:(

He is suggesting that you click on the link he gave you for Team Viewer. ;)

You simply click on the word. It takes you to the MG download page which explains what TeamViewer can do. In your case you would need to install it on both computers and set it for LAN connections only, and so that the laptop's desktop is presented on your monitor, rather than using it in remote control mode. It is not obvious that viewing is active unless she is a bit techie.

Ah, right, I think I get it now

I have to install it on both my PC and her laptop then ?

Will it show on her laptop ?

Does she have to sign in ?

IF she does open a website, would I be able to close it (I'm hoping that if she does, it will just piss her off enough to stop going on it)

You have to install it on both computers. You can delete any icons on her computer. You will have to "sign in" on her computer when she is away. If she turns off the computer, you will have to "sign in" again. There is another program that will keep you signed in, but it escapes my mind at the moment. Maybe it will come to me tonight. LOL

It is possible, easy in fact, to set it up so that you can connect to the other machine without any login. I use it all the time on my laptop to remotely control the 'main' PC upstairs which has all the software installed.

great, I can install it on her laptop, and sign her in, BUT after that, get her to sign in,

now c'mon, that aint really going to happen is it :(

The whole idea is to see what she is doing when she is on her own with her laptop

Okay, explain how I get it to login on its own and when she logs on to her laptop,

I'm not intrested in emails, just some websites

You set it to start when Windows starts, and to accept LAN connections only. That's it. You can access it by IP whenever you want to without her seeing any evidence of it.

    Right this is number 9

You have it set up on your PC's/laptops, so what settings do I have it on ?

(sorry for seeming a bit thick, but I have never even tried anything like this, I'm not happy about doing it, but I'd rather have my daughter safe than sory)

That's a bit beyond explaining here, there are too many screens. Just install it on both machines to start with Windows and set it to accept LAN connections only. Each time you connect you get the choice of whether it will be Presentation (i.e. viewing only), or Remote Control. You will have to try it for yourself and if you are stuck with anything just ask.

This is a difficult and controversial issue but as she is so young I do have some sympathy.

I think I'll install it on my laptop and desktop PC and have a play with it, at least that way I can get used to it

(it's not her, its her bloody mates telling her how easy it is to win big money, I dont know that they have though, maybe they do it for fun)

If she is, that isnt a problem

    Thanks for your help, appreciated;)

Testing it on your own machines first is the way forward. I think you should find it pretty straightforward. Must admit I find it indispensable, as I only ever install software or store data files on the main PC but can use it freely from my laptop just as if sat at it.

    Signing off for tonight.

Thanks for explaining it better than I, as it's been a few years since I last used it to monitor 30 computers on a network.
