Does anyone else have a better nights sleep while wearing socks?:-D I tried this last night after not sleeping too good for a while and I had the best nights sleep I've had in ages,I've felt great all day.

So is there anything in this?

What made you decide that sleeping in your socks would make you sleep better? LOL

Is it that chilly there at night? I think I'd be kept up all night from being too hot if I tried it right now.

Loads of people I've spoke to said they slept better when wearing socks, something to do with the nerve endings in your feet.

I've held off googling for the answer and started a thread instead just so everyone can make fun of me:-D

Yes the socks are on my my feet Tim not on my hands,Tony the only way lavender comes anywhere near me is if its a shade of car paint on a car I'm painting for a Woman.:-D

Right google will put this thread to bed then:cool

So there's been a swiss study done which proves that people fall to sleep twice as fast while wearing socks but I can't find a direct link to it just hearsay.

Hehe, Ricky said socks, not a sock. :-D

Yeah, I put a few drops of lavender oil extract on a kleenex next to my pillow, breathe deeply in and out and that helps to relax you for a good sleep.

    Double bagged? :-D

I can't answer the poll because sleeping with socks on makes me sleep worse because I will wake up in the night and have to take them off because either my feet get too hot or I get that sock crease in my legs which itches.

I would really like to try it, but I absolutely cannot sleep in socks, even when it's freezing cold. For some reason it makes my claustrophobia kick into overdrive...I can't even have my covers tucked in at the bottom of the bed. Sleeping better would be a bonus if it was an option, though. :)

Well, you get overheated feet and thus sweat more, unless you have poor circulation in your feet. It ruins the socks, ends with with smelly feet, etc.. I reckon it is more psychological that you sleep better with socks after someone had told that was the case. There is certainly a relationship between body termperature and sleep and which varies with age, dreams, lifestyle events, health, diet, etc.. - just so many variables.

Well I have just always been taught to take em off before bed...something about being bad for the circulation.

That's what I thought too could cause clots ect.

The confusing thing is there are special sleep socks for sale and also circulation socks,a little different to normal socks though they pull right up to the knee's compressing all the blood vessels in the lower leg not just the feet,I imagine the elastic in socks can cut circulation at the cankles.

    http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-circulation-socks.htm

Wore socks again last night, completely knocked me out.I usually wake up a couple of times a night due to noises ect but I slept through in one solid block like I'd been drugged:-D

The difference is so pronounced it can't be a placebo effect, one thing that sprung to mind is that I sleep with the window open and just have a single sheet covering because I'm always hot but I felt colder with the socks on and needed an extra blanket:confused

I wonder if the feet can have such a marked effect on body temperature:confused

I saw a documentary about feet and they proved that your feet have an effect on your whole well being. One of things they did was to chill feet in cold water for 10 mins then put on warm socks, the participants felt a pronounced feeling of well being and relaxedness for the next couple of hours and I totally concur I've tried it and it works.

Saying that I'm not a fan of reflexology or any alternative medicine,I've never seen any studies that prove it works,I know there are lots of nerve endings in the feet but I doubt they connect to and can effect every other organ and part of the body.

Those circulation/compression socks are hell on earth! They are absolutely NOTHING like regular socks...the material they are made out of is harder to stretch than, say, a wooden board. They wanted me to wear them after my knee surgery since I am prone to blood clots, but I made myself get up and walk almost immediately to avoid them. :-D

I've never heard of wearing socks to bed having anything to do with causing blood clots, though. Not that it couldn't, but even when I landed in the hospital after a clot in my leg broke up and moved to my lungs they didn't mention anything about it. In fact, they got mad at me for taking off those stupid slipper socks they give you when I was in bed.

You are weird as hell Rikky!

Socks in bed sounds like a really tacky porn movie script! ;)

Have to in seriousness say I will wear them in winter when I sleep as my feet get cold as ice :(

I have this large electrical boot with several settings for the colder days as I like a cool temp to sleep in and like you, my feet are freezing. This is one reason I love floor heating, it could be 10C in the room but as long as my feet are warm, I'm fine.

You live in what is a ICE BOX of a country Augie so a electronic warming boot is well needed my friend, would look weird as hell in the UK but then fashion in the UK is weird as girls go out in pyjamas in the middle of the day to shop!

Hahaha! Thankfully, that hasn't come here yet as it's prevalent in the States, maybe it's because the French gals here have a tad more decorum or a better sense of fashion. I don't know about the rest of Canada though.
