I am trying to reinstall a Dell Inspiron 5100 with Windows XP. The Cd does not work. I have tried USB Multi Boot 10 to install XP with a flash drive, I get past the format stage of the install and I get a .sif error for missing or corrupt file. Does anyone have any better way to make a XP USB or why I am getting this error? Thank you for any help.

You can try WintoFlash, I haven't used it but have seen posts where others recommend it.

You could try and burn a new copy off of your install disc also using either IMG burn or Infrarecorder......

this is what i prefer to use very simple ;).

Wintoflash will work best as Sach2 has suggested, but, I would run a disc diagnostic on your HDD first as it could be bad sectors that could be creating the failed install, it is reccommended that you use the HDD manufacturers own tool to do a diagnostic.

Thanks. However, it failed to boot to the flash. Any other suggestions? Also when I said the CD did not work, I meant the CD/DVD on the laptop did not work.
