I have a 2.5Ghz CPU computer that i don't really want to throw away, it boots up fine (except not picture on screen) but it doesn't beep even when there's no RAM in it. Does this mean it's a no hope situation? I'm scaveging computer parts together to make a simple rig for my friend, his computer sucks it only has like a 64MB graphics card LOL so he's kinda holding out hope for this. Like i said it doesn't even beep when there's no RAM in it, in fact it doesn't beep at all it just turns on.

So i'm guessing that it's a no go?

    Hello,
You said it boots up fine, fans spin up, case lights come on, HD spins up?

I haven't tried a HD in it because the monitor doesn't even turn on. I just wanted to test the motherboard to see if it even worked...

Do any of the fans spin up, or lights come on?

Yep the fans come on both on the MB and the GPU, don't have LED's plugged in yet. Have a speaker plugged in to see if it beeps but it doesn't beep.

The beeps would come from the internal speaker on the motherboard.

Strange. Do you get a green light on the motherboard?

The motherboard is only maybe 5 years old so there is no light on it.

What type of motherboard do you have?

From what i can see it's a GA-8S648FX motherboard, Intel Celeron 2.60Ghz CPU. Like i said i'm only making it for my friend it isn't actually my computer.

I have about 2Gig of RAM for it.

A couple of basic things do you have the 12v ATX power connected near the processor? (People do forget.)

Have you tried replacing the CMOS battery or attempting to boot without it?

Is your graphics card 4x/8x (It appears that board won't work with a 2x card.)
