Alledged Microsoft Call

I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, with an Indian accent. He claimed that Microsoft was receiving error complaoints from my PC and thAT I was infected with a virus or malware, whcih was replicating itself from my machine. He had me run the inf cmd which lists several hunded INf and pnf files, which I was informed were due to malware. Then asked me to run eventvwr, which also listed five folders, and in the application folder there are several hundred files, both information and error types. The error files started in mid April and with as many as 18 generated today. The caller then told me this was really bad and that "they" were gong to help me resolve this issue. At this point, beleiving I was beinf spoofed, I hung up, before I did something I would regret.

I have been running MalAdwareBytes regularly every week without detecting these files. In the mean time, I will run the MAB and Spybot programs

Was I being spoofed, or do I have a real problem not detected by MAB or Spybot, or the Windoew Defender programs?

Thanks, I was pretty sure that was the case and stopped the call while doing only non-harmful actions. I ran MBAM successfully.
