digital receptionist pbx software ?

    HI,
    I am interested to use my fax modem to setup digital receptionist pbx software.
    Does anyone have any idea ?
    Is there an open source or free software to do that.

    Using a simple fax maodem I would suggest Talkworks

    You have to look around for someone who still has it, Ebay, Amazon, it is not free but does it all.


    Asterisk needs different hardware I think, but the software is free.

    My concern is only with automatic call attendent functionality.
    Would u b able to let me know what would b the cheaper most way of having this funcitonality.thanks
