    Good morning all,

My computer (Sony Vaio VGN-FW290 running windows 64 bit ~ rest of info in attached logs) has always been a fast running computer. I am proactive about keeping it updated and being careful about what I install etc. I am usually pretty technologically sound and advanced, but I am stumped at this one. My computer seems to be lagging and running very slow. Things even will give me the busy icon and say not responding. Only thing I have done different is install a HP Deskjet F4500 (which hasn't worked properly yet, but that's a different thread.

I followed the step by step guide, made sure I had enough working memory. Found no programs under the house cleaning list that needed to be uninstalled and began with the programs that requires the logs.

I suggest that before looking any deeper into possible malware problems ( which is not likely the problem ) that you free up a bunch of hard disk space. You do not have a enough free space. Cleanup some of the junk you may have to get 10% of your hard disk size to be free space. Your logs show:
    Code:
    Drive C:
    Description Local Fixed Disk
    Size 454.84 GB (488,379,535,360 bytes)
Free Space 3.94 GB (4,234,604,544 bytes)

Thanks for the response! I will start freeing up my computer from junk right away. What programs should I keep from the removal thread (if some) and which should I uninstall?

Installed programs are probably not the source of you using up 484 GB of disk space. More likely it is due to all the things you may be doing with videos. I see lots of video conversion, authoring, and burning type software. And this includes BlueRay stuff which could eat up diskspace very quickly. You should start here and cleanup all the stuff you don't need.

At any rate, freeing up your hard disk of unnecessary data files and programs is not a topic for this forum. You could discuss this in other forums like the Software Forum, but no one is going to know where and what you have eaten up all this diskspace on except you. So it is really up to you to figure this out and I still think you need to look into the video stuff.

I'll give you are normal final instructions which will answer this. ;)

Since you are not having malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
