Right. It's that special weekend, where we celebrate our Independence from the tyrannical clutches of Britain, and have brought forth on this continent a new nation!

    What are your plans?

    Tonight - Shabbat

Saturday - Nothing major at all hopefully. Just playing with the kids.

Sunday - Morning service. Then, eating and sleeping.

Monday - Cooking out and shooting off fireworks.

  2. Wenchie

    Wenchie I R teh brat

    Friday - Cleaning, Fireworks
Saturday - More cleaning, Visit some wholesale clubs and see if we want to join one, maybe some more fireworks, raid
Sunday - Finish the cleaning if we haven't, Grocery shop, Vegetate, maybe some more firework
Monday - The cleaning better be done or I will kill them and ressurect them as zombies just to make them mop up their own blood, picnic, fireworks

We're not doing much that's fun... but the extra day off is an extra day to get that honey do list knocked off before I start devouring souls.

    I'm NOT working!! :-D

Friday: Boring...laundry, cleaning, trying to live through severe thunderstorms.

Starting Saturday and finishing up Monday night, I'm spending the weekend with the new guy. For the most part I'm letting him surprise me with what we're going, but I know Sunday night we're stopping in at my (well, now our) bar. Monday night will be fireworks. The only reason any of that might change is if his ex decides he's allowed to take the girls, in which case I'll be on my own. We have decided that until we figure out if we're serious I won't be meeting his girls (they're five and three).

waking up tomorrow and putting the brisket on the smoker, then cutting the grass, then on goes the ribs to smoke and maybe a venison roast as well. Then it'll be too hot to work in the yard so I'll retreat to the interior of the house and work on my daughter's computer for them. All in anticipation of smoked meats for supper and even some smoked eggs. Then who knows what on Sunday!

It will be sad if we can't watch fireworks, though.

I think all the contestants are 3 sandwiches short of a picnic.

How and why were they chosen for Miss USA?

  18. Wenchie

    Wenchie I R teh brat

They weren't, its a parody of the contestants being asked if they felt Evolution should be taught in schools. Replace math with evolution and it was equally as brain dead.

You are spot on with replacing evolution with math!!!

Brisket is on, now to rub the ribs (chipotle-cinamon, super smoker's special rib rub, and my own mix). Ribs will go on about 11:00 and it should all be done between 6 and 8 tonight. Barry, Augie, you know you guys would always be welcome if you could make it here!

Gah. What a difference a day makes. The new guy has his daughters this weekend, so I'm out. I get it, but I'm disappointed. On the other hand, I am now working Monday (double time, it doesn't break my heart, especially since I won't be otherwise occupied). No fireworks for me, though, unless I see some while loading out the band. Such is life. Could be worse...it's Peter Frampton in an intimate outdoor amphitheatre in our local sculpture/botanical gardens. :)

Typical weekend around here. In that, we did our errands in town and as we were almost home, the kid called. ( She sold her great truck and is now borrowing her mothers truck which has no air conditioning!!). She had a flat tire. So we get home. Cut the tree shoots that are growing thru the spare tire out in the yard, and pump it up. Head down the driveway and she calls. A friend dropped by and they have fixed the tire. Good for them!!! Back to the house. Settle down to check malware and she calls back. The truck slipped off the jack and punctured the tire!! Dead tire now. So we put the dogs back up and head back into town. Find her and no help in sight. Jack it up, put on tire, tire needs air!! Gas station around the corner and tire is properly inflated. Go back home. Find that since her last visit last night, our sewer line is backed up. Crawl under house and clean out the septic line. Finally get back to malware, all the while scratching my mosquito bites!! Now it is nap time!!! Think I will turn the phone off!! :-D:-D

Jeez Tim, time to empty the septic tank, no?;):-D

  31. TimW

No, time to teach the kid to stop using a whole roll of TP when she takes a dump!!! :-D

  32. augiedoggie

augiedoggie The Canadian Loon - LocoAugie (R.I.P. 2012)

I didn't want to say that but since you did...:-D I don't even allow cigarette butts or tampons in mine either, eventually will clog up the drainage field, which reminds me, gotta make an appointment with the shit disturber as by law we have to have our tanks drained every two years. I'm surprised they didn't call me yet.

The idiots that put the extension on our house didn't give the pipe enough fall. The septic system isn't the problem, it is more an issue with too flat a slope in the line. And the kid seems to be the only one that can consistently plug it up! I just love going under the house to blow it out. Makes my day!! :-D

  34. Shadowchaser

    Shadowchaser A Really Great Guy

Sounds like it's time to teach the kid a few life skills. I'm thinking of how to change a flat and how to clean a sewer line to start with, then follow the guidelines in Farnham's Freehold. Should keep her alive and well even in the case of a zombie outbreak!

  36. augiedoggie

augiedoggie The Canadian Loon - LocoAugie (R.I.P. 2012)

Aww man, that sucks big time! I don't exactly remember the slope here but it's about 1ft/10 ft and then drops a couple of feet almost straight down. Also we never throw grease down the pipe, congeal the fat in the fridge and put it in the garbage. Never a blockage for the last 35 yrs. unless someone has a really bad poop, then it's plunger time as I have one of those low flow toilets.

IIRC, around here it is a minimum of 1/4" per foot. Ours is no where near that. Only way to fix it would be to dig up the septic tank and bury it deeper!! :(

Tim, when I read this part of your post: "So we get home. Cut the tree shoots that are growing thru the spare tire out in the yard, and pump it up." I began to hear banjo music in the background... :-D Hope the rest of your weekend goes better!

  47. Fred_G

Thats easy! The best way is to tow a junker car in your yard and set it on blocks and remove 3 or all of the tires. (car does not have to even have an engine, but should be American made) That will blend you in pretty well in a redneck area.

Now, if you want to go hard core, you will need, in addition to the car, some unusual yard 'art'. Could be a pile of bricks, stack of old water heaters, you will have to find something to 'collect' that you like. For the real redneck yard, you will need a small shed. You have to fill the shed with junk you will never use, and then once it is full, you need to stack up some more junk along side the shed.

Put a couch out on your covered front porch, and people will swear you are a native that maybe talks funny because you lived in another state while waiting for the statue of limitations to expire on some crime. :-D
