Started an ICT Apprenticeship 18 months ago with the Australian Fed Govt while also working f/t for them. The last two months almost killed me with the stress load but I finally finished.

As an IT student I had to buy PC gear for "tax claims" and this is my reward:

What kind of hdd's are those? You'll like the H70, I've got the H50 (love it), and waiting on the general release of the H100 for my new build.

HDD are SATA3 2TB Smasung Barracuda Green for RAID0. Finished the build today excepting for the following "DOH" moments:
    - Hooked up Radiator "before I had put the CPU power headers in", thankfully I noticed after I had only put one screw in for the inside fan,
    - Almost all of it together then realised the mobo didn't have the "old" DVD socket, can't install the OS......till the missus gets home,
    - Old mobo is the GA-EP45T-Extreme (ICH10 South Bridge) and I learnt I can't just plug my RAID0 into the new mobo (Z68 South Bridge) and clone it onto the SATA3 RAID0, just finished transferring all of the old gear into the missus PC so I can run a crossover cable and get the data (would have much preferred to clone).

Will post some pics soon but I am tired after two system builds and generally run down from finishing my studies.

Can you rotate your H70 fan assy. 90 deg. clockwise as that would relieve the strain on the pipes? Too bad you can't route the +12V ATX cable by the back, just for aesthetics sake.;) You can buy an extension if you want. Otherwise, great build and welcome to the 2600K club!:clap

I like the case and what a sensible idea to situate the PSU at the bottom thus making it tidier and leaving more area for air to circulate. Does the hot air from the PSU expel directly out of the case ?? as I have always thought that the standard ones that are screwed at the top blow hot air directly onto mobo/cpu area. Shall put one on my 'To Buy List'. Congrats on a very nice/tidy build.

Cheers buddy, the way the pump went onto the CPU felt like I was bending it the least and with the logo facing that way it "seemed the right positioning" but I look into your comments. Any way of "knowing" the pump is on?

As far as routing the CPU power behind the hole the case has provides a ridiculously small hole that is behind the cases top frame rail so it is a no go either way.

Yes the hot air does go straight out the rear, and as far as I am aware the PSU should actually be adding to sucking out hot air in the top mounted PSU designs.
As you can see from this pic I don't have to think about thermal design anymore with a front 140mm across the HDD and then 2 top mounted 140mm for extraction with that in mind I followed Corsairs advice and made the radiator fans intake and will test for a period.

That was part of the original ATX design specs, iirc: downward facing fan pulling and rear facing fan pushing.

The new build's looking good :)

Use HWMonitor to check your CPU temps, with an H70 at no load I'd expect like 30 to 35C max at 72F room temp. If the pump failed for some reason then your CPU would shut down automatically from the heat. AFAIK, there's no other way to tell if the pump is working. Just check your temps for the next few days. Did you use the preapplied compound or used something else?

As for the small opening, I had to split the 2x4 pin EATX connector and slide them through singly on my case and put them back together before attaching.

Check out this video at the 7 minute mark, that's what the installation should look like.

EDIT:Or what you see right here!:-D BTW, I think you installed the pump cable to an unregulated fan connector, right? That would be good.

I see what you mean now and will get onto it. The Pump went onto a second CPU fan header, so just a chassis fan header or something like that?, I will also follow your advice here. So far I can only get into the BIOS and saw 30-32C on CPU, missus keeps racing off with the car and I haven't got the DVD drive for OS installation yet but just as well after your solid tips and tricks. It is such a pain installing the H70 by yourself, I wish my missus took more of an interest in these things like the lady in the video what an absolute trooper.

Okay I did rotate it like the video had it but due to fan holes placement there is no possible way I can physically get that side panel back in that orientation, it looks almost like that in the video as well. With a single screw in I tried to put the side panel back but no chance. Put it back the way I had it.

Ya, as long as it's a 3 pin connector then you're fine with the pump as it will always run at %100, the fans though should have a 2 into one one 4 pin connector I believe.

Yup on the missus helping, mine doesn't give a rat's *** as long as she has her e-mail and Skype. Of course when something goes wrong, who does she turn to...?:banghead:-D

OUCH! Not all is lost though as they have swivel connections, I guess I'm a bit too anal eh?;) That is a bigger reservoir than my H50. Too bad mate as I love to see clean builds, my problem I guess.:-D

ROFL I am hearing you as long as FaceBook, hotmail and other social stuff works she's happy but then she does something silly (uninstall a driver on a Japanese OS laptop) and the whinge meter starts rising cause I struggle to fix it.

Apology gracefully accepted. I know with confidence it was intended as an enhancement. Typing this on the build right now, it took about 1/4 of the time to install Windows 7 compared to the SATA2 RAID0, I think Im in love....lol this thing is so fast but the H70 is NOISY, may have to change these fans.

Hey, that's great man! I knew you'd be spoiled rotten.;):-D Ya on the fan noise, as my H50 was loud too and with only one fan. I replaced it with a comparable CFM Noctua fan but they are a bit pricey though I prefer quietness to noise. What's your temps like now with the OS?

Aww come on, the Noctuas are only double the price.:p:-D The Zalman is nice and at a more reasonable price. Those are great idle temps, what are they like when stressed with something like OCCT, my favourite burn-in tool when I have a new build or I up the OC. You want a component to fail now if it's going to fail. As to 4GHz, that'll be a breeze.:major

Except for that last build, nice. Looking forward to what the H100 can bring. Yes, I've put my build on standby, going for the x79 stuff. :)

Oh ya man but you'll have to wait until Jan. or later now instead of Q4 this year for the socket 2011 CPUs. I'm not sure why. It's a weird layout but with all those lanes... I'm just worried that this may be too high end for me, meaning the pocket. If the mobo/CPU/memory is under 1K, then that'll be fine.-D Oh, they have a legacy PCI slot too.-D

Finally made the system "bearable" to use and are transferring data to it now. I was suspicious that the push fan was the primary culprit so I disconnected that and powered up and yes it was the primary cause of the "swarm of angry mosquitoes" whine I was hearing (set the teeth on edge).

I found I had two Zalman ZMF3 in the other case (the missus) so I pulled them out and replaced them with a Lian Li and one of the Corsairs without any significant noise increases.

Installed the Zalmans on the radiator sucking in form the rear as suggested by Corsair, but although there seemed to be increased CFM the noise was also still present. I reversed the fans to blow out the back (thinking at least the whine could be internalised and dampened by the case) and it has worked a treat.

After all of the software installs I will get some baseline benches done and see what this system will do, currently hitting 28-31C with light activity of file transfer across PCs.

Ya, Corsair says the same thing for the H50, blow cold air in from the back, I could never figure that one out.:confused
I decided to not do this as it sounded like stupid install advice. One wants to have a clean and smooth airflow from front to back and out, not to make the H50 seemingly shine while giving the heat to something else.:confused

EDIT: Creates an unwanted turbulance in the case IMO, therefore the noise.

I guess the HWMonitor pic is when the 2600 was @ idle? Otherwise, good job. Easy sucker to OC eh? You may be lucky enough to have one of the %2 of CPU's that can go to 5GHz, if you have the cooling. Still, 4.4 is just fine.:major

Yes I had just finished the Prime95 temps are good at 4.4GHz.
