This is from a series of articles at Windows Secrets.com.

The link below is for Part 3 in the series.
It contains a recap of the recommendations from Part 1 and Part 2 with links to those articles.

This should be an interesting read for anyone with Windows 7 or anyone planning to upgrade to Windows 7.

Oh ya! I'm a subscriber too. W7 has effectively killed off a lot of programs. I just have Avast! now.
As funny as that may sound, I will never ever give up making partitions for 'my stuff'. If the Windows blows up, and at the worst, I'll have to reinstall it with 'all my stuff' intact.

I'm a paid subscriber, too. :cool I was a Free subscriber for ages, until upgrading to a paid subscriber.

Just received my weekly copy of Windows Secrets (each Thursday)
I haven't read the copy as yet. I read the article from post #1 here, on MG.
I will have to digest this article, but on a brief read I disagree with some points.

For example, nearly 2 million downloads from MG, of CCleaner, out today (see my post http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=240368). Admittedly most of these downloads would be for OS versions earlier than Windows 7.

I will try and compile a reply to the points raised in the article and post it in a few days.

    Thanks Bazza. :)

I didn't post this as a patent endorsement of everything in the article.
I'm still using Windows XP and can't comment from experience on these recommendations.
However, while going quickly over the contents of the article, I did notice some things that some people
may have an issue with or disagree with.
Still, I think the article makes some good points and also serves to highlight some of the features of Windows 7.

Thanks also to augiedoggie for your comments. :cool

Doesn't sound funny at all. In fact that is the more savvy way of setting up a system, for people who know how.

Don't know why he would write that. Certainly he doesn't really believe that.
Separate partitions and even duplicate partitions on separate hard drives (if anyone does that) provide more flexibility and data security.

I confess, as I said already, I didn't read all of the article, but I thought it offered some interesting ideas
and kind of a heads up about Windows 7 features.
