    Hello,
IE7 uploaded over IE6 and corrupt older IE files dating back to 3/11/08 as per Belarc Advisor. The IE7 browser has a black line through it (see attachment) stating, MSN TOOLBAR ENCOUNTERED AN ERROR. I went to a previous set date and the older setting is now corrupt as well (so much for XP). All hardware passed with flying colors but it must be a software problem. Dell did not provide XP disk so I have no copy of the OS.
Active X will not upload or will anything else. Even going to "guest" user, that XP allows seems to be fine but doesn't have the authorization to upload to my laptop. So, I can't run Active X and upload to correct the problem. I could be hear all night writing a novel on the problem but the basics and attachment is all you need for now. Please advise if there is more info you require. I will respond immediately. This is my second attempt to write in as the first was lost when spell check was used.
IE7 seems to be tied into the OP so removing from system may cause me more damage.
XP-3 is OP with IE6 as my primary browser until IE7 automatically took over.
Is there any utility that could correct problems in XP AND IE?
There are many out there but too many are pushing their products.
Thanks and I look forward to your expert resolve to this problem.
    Many thanks and God Bless!
    Mike

PS - I utilizing my sons latop to type this!

Sorry, I don't see any attachment to either of your posts.

Also, tell us how these files are "corrupt".

Finally, what do you mean by "upload" - install?

    Hello,

I copied the original post from another site that isn't helping.

    OK,

    1) see print screen from my browser (attached)

    2) Belarc is a program that provides complete status of all downloads, software, etc. It aslo lists all the files to reload (if they must be reloaded from Windows they must be corrupt), All listed are IE 7 files that upload automatically from MS to support their OS and IE's.

    3) Upload, anything files load from a remote site is an upload (correct terminology) while download is what I'm doing now with the attached....down loading to MG. - my problem is Active X will not upload any files from any site include MS Windows. The only way I can do this is through another computer save to flash or portable USB hard drive.

I'm using another computer to type this due to the browser problem.

    Thanks,

    Welcome to majorgeeks mxd6.
First of all, you see the little extra bar at the top, when asked about active X from microsoft- do you mean that when you click on that , and a drop down asked you to allow it, you click allow, and it does not download the active X needed to run ? because if you say no, then it will not download.

I'm saying yes but to download Active X but the toolbar along with IE 7 is damaged....I can not download from any site. I can not change any of the settings relating to IE including security and all others related to IE. I'm a little more advanced than your question implies. This is a serious IE 7 problem that was NOT fully installed correctly due to the geniuses at MS. I need to return to IE6. Just remember all the IE settings have deleted to highest secruity settings and will not allow me to change anything no matter what I do.

Open the Control Panel and click on Add/Remove Programs. Find Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and uninstall it. If any security updates to IE 7 have been installed, uninstall them before you uninstall the browser itself.
To be extra safe, uninstall one at a time and reboot between each uninstall.

Sevice Pack 3 is part of IE6 and IE7 and should be unistalled first wouldn't you say?

    Thanks

IE7 will not go away besides there are far too many things corrupt and not working properly. Still can't upload...it's a mess. I have ordered XP Pro with key and will install when received. I hope my driver disk works, the one supplied by Dell or MS and I will be working for hours on end getting drivers from their site. I have found a tweek that will NOT allow IE7 to ever load on your machine........wish I had found it earlier. So it is wait until new OS arrives. This post is offically closed - thanks!!!

PS - MS is pushing BING big time.....and many will suffer due to their jamming junk down people's throat.
