Confusion about adm permissions

    New win 7 home prem (64bit) install a few day's ago !!

    Q: I can't open the documents folder, it has a little lock on it... I'm the owner/adm and the only account ??

    What can I do to chg this...?

    You are not supposed to open the Documents and Settings folder anymore since Vista first came out and it is the same in Win 7. All your user account info is under the Users folder.

    Many folders in Windows are protected system folders. The Documents and Settings folder is just one of them.

    chaslang I am confused, isn't the C:\Users folder the new name for the Documents and Settings folder? When I click on it I see 3 folders Default(hidden), Public, My name(private)..........Now my name does have a little lock picture on it, but I am able to access it and all the folders in it without doing anything but Double-click on them.

    Or have I gone in a completely wrong direction here?

    Yes that is what I said in my post. But the Documents and Settings folder is still present and protected by Windows. Under normal circumstances, you cannot access it unless you do some tweaking which you should not do and it is unnecessary.
