So today is the first of 4 days off work for me, the first time I've had more than 2 days off in a row since last October and it is HOT!
The forcast shows the temps all week.

They show the temps and then do the "Feels like" including humidity and the lowest temp next week is Monday.... 37C, the rest of the week is 40C+

Too hot, I'm an Englishman, I was born waterproof, not heatproof.

I'm going to write a letter of complaint to my MP :major

These temps should be ilegal :mad

100 degrees has been the norm for most of the month. It will continue into August is what they say, which with the humidity means "feels like" 105+ ( heat index) and my daughter needs to borrow my truck for a few days leaving us with the wife's truck which has no air conditioning!!! :cry

    Whereabouts are you Ned?

Same here:-D People always start moaning here when it rains but some of the best days I've ever spent have been when its raining. I love the rain,if it wasn't for rain I'd never have been stuck inside building something.

Have your parents or grandparents never handed you a load of old cardboard, some glue and some scissors when you were stuck inside away from the rain as a kid and said 'build anything you want'

Its the same today but I use metal and a mig welder:)

I love summer time but I just don't like the days where you go outside and just go "sigh":( With the high humidity the last few weeks specially its been pretty crazy. Mowed the yard yesterday and cleaned the car out started early hoping for nice cool morning air. I got soaked clothing with in an half hour of simple stuff. Feel bad for family tho being poor with fans:( Hope everybody stays cool and no problems arise.:wave

I live in southern Ontario, Canada.

The weather here is a lot like it is back in Norfolk but more extreme, -20's/30'sC and lots of snow in the winter and hot and humid in the summer.

As for the cardboard box thing, I never had to be told lol, although I used to play with airfix models or my dads old Mechano set.... if niether of those then I would just take something apart, like my RC truck or my TV :-D

Always loved rain except when having to get up at 3am durin a North sea storm to move the fishing boats to a safe distance, didn't like rain much then but the rest of the time it's great.

I never was one for summer sun and heat, my mother is a redhead so I burn like stale toast on a BBQ, I walk around here telling people I miss the snow and they all think I'm nuts. People keep saying it will wear off but I've been here for 7 winters and it ain't worn off yet, these Canadians don't understand us English :-D

Had a thunder storm this morning for about 20 minutes and it raised the humidity to around 98% and the temp at 11am (now) is sitting nicely at 38C in the shade, it's hot and wet (insert any inuendo you wish :-D )

I almost wish I was working since I work in the basement level of the store and it's nice and cool, I want to play video games but it's too damn hot to sit at th PC for any length of time :(

Seems like we're going to get your heat and humidity starting on Wednesday Ned but only to 32 hopefully. 25 now with humidex at 34. I hope we don't get a T-storm like we did last evening, took 16 hrs. to get power back.

I hate the heat too,my body runs hot anyway.

I love snow too but last couple of christmas's over here not so much the snow but the ice, frozen cars, everything breaking down, things running off schedule, shops being closed ect. It all got a bit old after a few weeks.

I'm sure things would be different if we had to live with it though,I mean if people didn't get to work because they were "snowed in" they started losing pay or lost their job they would miraculously start getting there.:-D

We can't get a break in the weather here in Southeast BC. No spring to talk of, and summer has been acouple of days in the mid 20's then rain and mid teens. Lots of wind blows debris from the neighbour's trees into the pool. (Did I mention I'm not a huge fan of the pool especially when there is no decent weather to use it.) The plus to the weather here is low humidity...around 22% when it's warm.:cool

Looks like our summers here. :) Except we just started the hot part of sumer... we'll be getting those temps for all of July and August now.

Yes, I spend a lot of time inside air conditioned buildings in the summer.

lol, dude, I am dealing with those temps, inside my house last night at around 8pm it was 98F.... INSIDE!

Yesterday my thermometre was reading 38C (100F) in the shade and not including humidity at a staggering 92%, according to the "Feels like" ratio that makes it "Feel like" 47C (116F)

What gets me is they recently moved the weather station from a field to the tip of a long land point into the middle of Lake Erie where there's lots of cool water and a nice breeze, so while my thermometre is hitting 35-38C etc, the weather network is saying it's 24C, idiots.

Today is no better, it's 10:30am and it's heating up again, not a breath of wind nor drop of rain....I really miss the snow :(

A bit of rain sounds nice. 90 something here in New York.

Plus, every time I've, uh, gotten myself involved with a girl, it rained. I think England would be a nice place for me xD

If you got involved with a girl every time it rained over here you have about 90,this year :-D

Why on earth is it that hot in your house, Ned? Don't you have air conditioning?

It's been hot as hell here too. Thinking it's hot as hell everywhere right now in the US and I guess part of Canada.

    In a word.... no lol
At the rate I pay electricity, I couldn't afford to run it even if I had one.

7:30am right now and inside temp is 32C (89F) , but I'm back to work today so I will be cooler, my poor girl on the other hand must deal with it :-D

A couple of thing s I do when it's this hot, one can run cool water on one's wrists and of course a wet towel across the shoulder with a fan.

Now it is 111.1F (44C) humidex included and cloudy.

By the looks of it not much of a change in the next few days. We do have air conditioning at home but don't really like it and prefer to have the ceiling fan running since it is very quiet. No alternative but to run the A/C when it is this hot. Love having the windows open in the summer. No noise at all from that fan. It must be awful not being able to sleep properly due to the heat. Temp. doesn't go down much at nite.

My daughter called me and said her A/C broke down and on top of it her fridge. Both are just about 5 years old. Luckily they have a salt water pool to cool off in. At least they can sleep in the basement where it is much cooler until it's fixed.

Radio said we hit 47C (116F) down here today, humidity included. They were actually giving weather warnings and advising people to stay home if they can and if you don't have a/c to go to a mall or store to cool off.
It is currently 1AM and my thermostat reads 35C (95F) WITHOUT humidity!

I must admit, this is a little much.

Couple of hours south of you oma, can't figure it out, we seem to be getting higher temps down by the lake than inland, weird.

@Bill... Trade you any day mate, my girl actually admitted she would take snow and -20C over this, me? I'd take snow every day :-D

    mmmmm snow....

  23. oma

    oma MajorGeek

Temp here reached 48C yesterday, humidex included. You're at Lake Erie and we're at Lake Ontario. Lake effect usually adds to the humidity, but this is sweltering at its best. Same advisories given here.

All good things weather wise come up from south of the border, in the summer anyways. ;) :-D Our neighbors to the south may say the reverse during the winter season - those darn Canucks freezing us to death. :-D

  24. Nedlamar

    Nedlamar MajorGeek

Dammit, I keep forgetting about the lakes up there lol, been here 6 years and still think of the lakes as the sea.
Not quite so hot this morning, my house is currently sitting at 89F, I almost feel cold :-D

  25. augiedoggie

augiedoggie The Canadian Loon - LocoAugie (R.I.P. 2012)

We had a humidex of 111 yesterday, thank god for the A/C which is oversized for my room but it hardly ever stopped even though the temp in the room was set to 25C/77F. Today won't be so hot but the humidex will stay at around 110 because the humidity has increased from %50 to %70 today. We can't win ATM.!-D

  26. oma

    oma MajorGeek

We have it set to 25C as well and it feels almost cold compared to the 35C humidex outside right now @11.37 AM. So it's a bit cooler than yesterday. :major

Remember being in Las Vegas in July at least 15 years ago. Temp was 115F and I was unable to walk outside. It felt as if an oven door had been opened with that hot wind that was blowing. We had to take a cab to the next door hotel. We had scheduled a tour by bus to take us to fly over the Grand Canyon and visit the Hoover Dam and a chocolate factory. The A/C in the bus didn't work and windows couldn't be opened. DUH! We were told that no other A/C bus was available and to put up with it since we were in the desert in the summer. :cry Bet that the chocolates were melting because that factory tour was cancelled. :-D The sales agent here told us to take a sweater for the evening since it would cool off, no dice! :-D

Always an interesting subject for us Canucks here talking about the weather eh? Yeah, the lakes are quite large compared to Europe's puny ones so they look like seas to many of us.

Our weather conversations get a bit repetitive in summer. "P!$$!ng down again." Where I live, if we can't see Lindisfarne it's raining. If we can see Lindisfarne it's going to rain. That's the rule of thumb.
    I have heat envy.

LOL, you wouldn't want to be in this muggy weather. Must be the rain and drizzle that made British women famous for their complexion and the grass etc. look so green there. Were it not for the installed sprinklers here the grass would be yellow/brown. A bit of rain is being forecast here but no relief yet in humidity. Mail deliveries are made very early morning out of concern for their health.

Good to see you back JOTS! :major

Great to be back, my friend.
Yesterday was an OK day, as is today. There's a moderate north wind, so pretty cool. I hate the cold and love the warmth of summer. But humidity is torture and I can't stand the stuff. I suppose we should be thankful for small mercies.
