About Majorgeeks: Founded in 2000 by two guys who simply wanted a different, niche type of file site catering to only the best tools available as well as to provide help to those who need it. They started out with just a few hundred listings and today have roughly 6-7,000 listings of only the best software available. As the site grew in popularity and earned a reputation new categories were added to provide tools for emerging technologies like video and multimedia.

Over 10 years later Majorgeeks is proud to be one of the few independent download sites left out there and still maintains a 2 man band with a hand on approach.
Majorgeeks continues to grow every year and the forums have over 1.2 million posts and 233,000 members including some of the best computer techs and Microsoft MVP’s found anywhere. Their Malware removal guide alone has had well over 4 million views.

Of course I searched, and found Major Geeks' page. However, does simply visiting the page count as entering into the giveaway draw, as I didn't see any related links/information?

I figured that there was a specific referrer-based link that resulted in displaying the FB Major Geeks' page, so I'm just wondering if I got entered or not. :-D

:-D Sorry but I must laugh a little. I too find it frustrating when things like this happen. No its not the official one. Its got the official fan page with the MG :major Symbol at the top left. It also has people on it from here. It also has Timothy T on it to show the owner.

Both the link within the post of the first purple (clicked) Google result, and the "direct link" (second purple clicked result) redirect to the Facebook home page as well. What the heck!

Facebook and Google I think will be the two contenders in WWIII someday, as they seem to be total opposites of each other while wanting the same thing.

Facebook despises the ability to find anything, while wanting everyone's information. Google wants people to find things, and only wants to know who finds what when.

Okay, I realize that didn't make as much sense as it did in my head, without the fact that Google owns most of the non-personal information in the world today, while Facebook owns most all the personal information in the world today.

If all else fails, I will try to make some copies available to the members here on the forum. Sound good? My primary use of Facebook is a simple way to interact with everyone including casual fans. The REAL issue is we have a copyright claim in for /majorgeeks on Facebook with an expected time of 6 months (2 down) to get it fixed. In the meantime some people can not seem to find it even with the URL that works for most. It's bizarre but we don't want to take some other name when /majorgeeks is the name people will remember and easily type in :)

Yessir, I'm logged in. That was my initial search, majorgeeks, and it returned the page in my first screenshot attachment. Only wiki information, etc.

From the thread mentioning the fan page, apparently other people have had it redirect to their FB home page as well. I'm not sure if it's because I'm in Germany registered as a Stateside Facebook user (military... go figure... I've encountered all sorts of internet issues over the years being in one country and from another), or if it's because my Facebook account is crippled (I've noticed Facebook likes to roll out updates to and break certain features for certain user groups at a time... I still haven't figured out what, exactly, they determine to be a "group" for these ventures of theirs).

  19. mcsmc

    mcsmc MajorGeek

I'm all about playing fair, but if you wanna PM me a key, I won't complain... since apparently Facebook doesn't want to let me actually "do it the right way". Or if you have something else in mind, that's fine too.

I do wish the Facebook page would work, though. I'd have been on it long ago had I known/thought about it (and of course, had it worked...).

    mcsmc MajorGeek

Well, to balance out my complaining, I think this is a wonderful thing that MG and IOBit is doing, and appreciate it. I definitely want a key, as the software looks very interesting and would be great to test out (and hopefully use!).

I have to call it a night. Thanks to those who tried to help me get to the page... apparently it's not going to happen today, though!

Still no good, I get my Facebook homepage as usual.
I have tried all the above suggestions and even MyFacebookSearch which I found recommended somewhere else but nothing works.
As was mentioned before I can see the page through Google Cache but that is of no use now.
I am just trying to solve this riddle out of interest (stubbornness?), I don't need a key as I have one already.

This is a great (record breaking?) offer that will certainly attract a lot of people to the MajorGeeks Facebook page as well as give those who can't afford to buy software the chance to get it for free :)
Well done IObit and MajorGeeks :cool

In common with others it seems I cannot find any reference to 10 bit anti malware keys on facebook. Any possibility of e mailing a key.

  26. Major Attitude

Major Attitude Co-Owner MajorGeeks.Com Staff Member

10 bit??? anti malware??? It's 1,000, it's IOBit Malware Fighter and it's explained in the first post:

"Winners will be drawn at random until all 1,000 keys are given away. "

It takes a while to email 1,000 people and we are spreading it out. I will offer my email address at random times on Facebook and email keys to the winners. We started with a bang and 100+ keys are already gone. From here we will do it in lots of 10-20. As I said watch for the post that says to email me.

1 per person please. A few people apparently think I am stupid and lazy when in fact I am ocd so I do have a list of winners and spotted some people trying 2-3 times. Luckily they are the minority by far.

Tim will you be offering them up here in this thread ?? or have I mis- interpretated what has been written ?? as I dont have and dont wish to have a facebook account this would be the only oppertunity that I would have at getting a chance of winning one of the keys.

I WILL give some out to our loyal members, however I am not advertising this. Obviously this is for people like yourself who have been here for a while and\or post quite a bit, not new members. Everyone else needs to use Facebook. I dont want a ton of new registrations here for no reason. :)

That is very honorable of you,it is good that you recognise the hard work that loyal members do, I myself am no expert though I have learnt a great deal from wiser members and try to assist as best I can, and I understand about the new reg's just for the chance to win !! ;). It is fantastic that you and IOBIT can offer this,I use their defrag software which is excellent at keeping my drives nice and tidy.

    Thanks.

I've never really trusted commercial security products, especially with the quality of free offerings like avg/avira/avast/malwarebytes. I'm inherently biased against recieving security from threats i can't see or understand, from a program that has a financial stake in my continued use of it. A commercial product would have to be pretty good, and reputable, for me to consider giving it that much trust with my machine.

free software more than adequately covers my security needs. Installing something like this would not only be trying to fix something that isn't broken, but possibly put me at risk.

I'm sorry to say that i've never heard of IOBit Malware Fighter. Why would i want that? Security is a big industry that thrives on fear and uncertainty. the number of rogue products out there that do nothing, pretend to fix problems that don't exist, or even create them, is mind boggling. I don't especially trust the big names like mcafee and norton, and something i've never heard of is just another virus in disguise until proven otherwise.

So maybe i have trust issues. right now i wouldn't even consider entering this competition, and would refuse to use the program even if i somehow won. Can anyone provide some useful info on the program to give it some trustworthniness?

This security software by IOBIT takes over/procedes IOBIT 360 !! Why would a site like MG's that pride our selves on malware fighting among other things, offer up a program that could potentially be an infection in disguise??? all of the software available here wether it be to pay for or free,is tested and approved before been offered to the users of this site and the general public from the download site.
I don't blame you for doubting this kind of software due to the likes of Norton/ mcafee who take vast ammounts of money for very little protection, and over charge for their products, and though as you say there is free versions of anti-malware in the likes of Mawarebytes/Super Anti-Spyware you still have to pay a small sum for you to get REALTIME protection, I believe that I have got a very strong security set up with Free Software in Malwarebytes/SAS/Secunia and Comodo Internet Security(which is very light on my system, unlike avg/avast and avira) and now IOBIT malware fighter Pro, which is now installed and running realtime and running it's first full system scan which I don't expect it to find anything other than a few harmless cookies ;). I would rather have a system that is protected and to halt known threats before they infect and potentially wreck my machine, than trying to fix my machine with "AFTER SCANS" to remove infections, which in themselves can render a machine unusable, as you are aware malware/virus infections attach themselves to the deepest parts of your system and can become so hard to remove that the only solution is to re-install the OS "if it lets you" :cry.

Yeah, highly rated free programs that offer more features as upgrades. Those bastards!!!

Until someone gets your credit card or steals your identity. See, they usually don't come up to you and ask for your social security number, so you won't see it but you sure will understand it if it happens to you. MOST of IObits programs are free including this one, with a few features that you can OPTIONALLY pay for. They don't have a financial stake in scaring you but would like your 20 bucks if you like the program and want the additional features. In America we call this capitalism.

As I continue to read the ramblings of a madman, I wonder why your wasting our time in this thread. Just move on.

You have quite a bit of that yourself, you do see the irony in that setnence?

Hi, we're Majorgeeks. Nice to meet you. We are a two man band who REALLY test programs. We have no rogue programs here and no one would disagree with you here. If you got it here, you don't have those issues. Go to the corporate download sites and we wish you luck.

Well, thanks for wasting everyones time then!

Man, you have multiple personalities dude! IOBit's reputation is solid. It is rated by our readers at a 4.66 with over 4.2 million downloads.

I have been beta testing IObit Malware Fighter for the last few months. I'm very impressed seeing the results with scans with comparision to Malwarebytes and Anti-spyware and such. Running the programs side by side I see IObit digging deeper then any other program. I look forward to seeing the the final version ready.
