Removing headers on blank pages

I'm using Word 2010 but I'm willing to try other office programs. I note MG offers different ones but I wonder if any will do what I want.

On a large text document, I need to insert blanks pages here and there but I don't want the headers and page numbers (footers) to appear. Does any one know of an office program that would allow me to do that? The document would eventually be made into a pdf so even a pdf program that would allow me to edit could work.

I know I can do it in Acrobat Pro, but it's a pricey program and it adds significantly to the word count. I also know I can do it by installing Section breaks, but I was hoping to avoid that lengthy process.

    Any suggestions? :confused

I may have resolved this issue. I'm told WordPerfect will allow me to make individual page changes. I've downloaded a free trial and I'm about to give it a shot.

I used WP years ago before Word became the accepted format in most places. NOTHING will ever come close to matching WP.

I have an old WP disk around somewhere. If I find it before the trial runs out, what are the chances of installing it on Vista and have it update free?

No, WordPerfect didn't help. It doesn't have the page size I need.

    Any suggestions?

MS Word (2000, 2003, 2007, 2010) will most certainly do what you want to do. I do it all the time. On the page before where you want a blank page, at the end of the text insert a "next page" section break. A blank page will be inserted (except it will have the previous page's header and footer). On this blank page, unlink the header and footer from the previous page's and then delete them.

And then unlink the header and footer on the page after the blank one and cut and paste the header and footer text from the page before.

I've never had a problem doing so although most of our documents only involve a couple of header changes.

Thank you both. I'll try that.

Sorry it's been several days before I came in to thank you.
