    Greetings all...

    Info:
    Gateway 7330GZ Laptop
    Pent 4 (3.2GHZ)
    1/2 G Ram
    XP Pro SP3 (all updates)

A few months ago the hard drive on this unit crashed, massive clicking…. Tried everything to recover, including freezing the HD, didn’t work. I installed a new drive yesterday and used a recovery disk copied off the net for this model, no disks were made when the unit was purchased (not my unit, a friends). XP successfully installed, originally I was unable to get online to do any additional updates.

In device manager I had yellow ! on the following:
    Other Devices
    Ethernet Controller
    Multimedia Audio Controller
    Network Controller
    PCI Modem
    Video Controller
    Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

Due to the amount of yellow ! I seem to think that the recovery disk, although it appeared to work, was not the right one. After I installed the Broadcom 440X driver I was able to get to the net and solve all yellow ! except “Other Devices \ Network Controller”.

Everything appears to be working correctly except the Wireless LAN. I have the Broadcom Wireless Utility installed but when I launch the Configuration Utility no adapters are present, I suspect the “Other Devices \ Network Controller” is the needed adapter. I have gone to the Gateway Support Site for the 7330GZ, pretty useless; the drivers for the network adapter (440X) were not the right ones so I assume that the wireless ones are not correct either.

Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated…….

Thanks in advance for your assistance

There is a problem with network driver , some users used the drivers from other series like 6000 Series Product Model: 6510 , read the article below

Greetings Falconattack, thanks for your quick reply.

I found that same forum earlier yesterday, which is how I was able to solve the wired network adapter. Once I solved that I resolved everything except the wireless adapter….. Which is where I am now. Like I said earlier, the Gateway site is useless. I have tried installing the drivers from their site to no avail……

    Your thoughts?

    Thanks again for your assistance

Go Start - Run type ( devmgmt.msc ) - right click to yellow question mark - properties - details - navigate to hardware ids from bar menu - select all - copy - paste the code , the code is like this !! :cool
