can xp disk be copied to usb

    i have an msi notebook with xp home and a disk can the xp disk be copied to a usb stick & with the msi set to boot from usb could this work? and do in need to put the licence back in for the xp home:confused

    No go. You can't boot Windows from a USB drive.

    Wrong. I've made bootable USB sticks of Windows XP and Windows 7. They actually install faster than a DVD, as read/write times are faster on USB 2.0 than an optical disk drive.

    Yeah, I know. I didn't read the original question carefully enough - thought he wanted a bootable Win installation on a stick, which isn't on of course.

    Ah, you mean the ability to purchase a Windows installation on USB media, instead of DVD media?

    Not purchase, no. I thought he wanted to move or replicate his XP installation to a flash drive and be able to boot XP from it. I'd probably had more than I should at the time ;)
