When I try to open my email a box says, "Your smtp server has not responded in 60 sec, Would you like to wait another 60? Then I am asked for my password (windows mail) Then another box comes up that says, "One or more ActiveX ..... could not be displayed because:
1, Your current security settings prohibit
    2. you have blocked a publisher
Then another box comes up that says, "Wndows Explorer is not responding".:
    restart
    close
    wait

I am going thru Read Me first

I had HJthis installed already... I clicked on it and it says it is already running.
I have uninstalled it and was going to reinstall... Windows Explorer is not responding.
I tried to right click Start and it does nothing the little circle just keeps circlcling... I am unable to even follow the Read Me instructions.

Any idea what to do next.... I have SuperASW and can't even run that.

    Thanks,
    Snow:cry

Are you able to get through the Read and Run Me First steps by using safe mode?

I have made it thru checking add/remove problems...none found.

You must mean add/remove programs?? OK, but do continue on, are you able to run SUPERantispyware or Malware Bytes in safe mode? If so you will probably be able to run the rest of the requested tools. Ideally I would like to see logs from normal mode, but it will be a good start if you are able to make use of safe boot mode.

I was able to complete all Read Me programs... I am still getting the message reading : "One or more ActiveX ..... could not be displayed because:
1, Your current security settings prohibit
    2. you have blocked a publisher

Then you need to ATTACH the requested logs:
    SAS
    MBAM
    RootRepeal --- if it ran
    ComboFix
    C:\MGLogs.zip

Not a malware problem. You can post about your issues in the software forum. Your logs are clean.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required (If we renamed it please rename it back to Combofix.exe.
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

I was able to complete all removals. When it came to system restore, I was supposed to Disable System Restore ...the system restore box wasn't highlighted... Windows shut down ... again...:( and when it came back up it was doing a system restore. I never got to Disable System Restore. Should I repeat the steps again?(Vista)

Thanks so much for all your help... I am off to Software now to fix my Windows situation

    Hi Kestrel,

I don't have a proxy. I just installed Windows Security Essentials yesterday. It took 5 hours. I am still getting the following messages:
    Mozilla not responding
Can't find website (when clicking email link)
I ran Bit Defender and came up with win32/regcure ...quarantined and removed...and that was it. My computer is barely working now. I have a website.. that is my source of income... which is almost non-existant... but it's all I have. Please help

    Snow

Kestrel was not finding any malware in your logs. Your issues seem to be system related. I suggest that you post in the software forum for further assistance.
