Ignorant question regarding Linux

    Hello guys

    Sorry for this ignorant question but it came up between me and a mate the other day so I'm hoping you can help...

    If windows is NTFS, FAT or FAT32 etc then what is the Linux equivalent of this?

    I also have the same question for Macintosh but I can post that in the appropriate section of these forums.

    linux is usually ext2 or ext3 but more and more are going to ext4, which is an improved version of ext3,

    macs are hfs
