    It's what one grows up with that makes the palate salivate. Nice, fresh and juicy grubs plucked from rotting tree stumps in Africa, the Inuit bury a fish for several months and retrieve it just before the winter, I think the swedes have a fermented herring and I like sheep's brains.

    See, that's why I'm usually open minded. And most of those dishes are prepared with presentation appeal - like Kimchi, id fermented cabbage. I mean it's not like you saw open the sheep's head and hang out watching TV with the severed head and a spoon...

    But Khai Luk/Balut (Different regional names) always looks like exactly what it is... and you're not expected to pick through it delicately with a knife and fork or dress it up... You're expected to bite right in and enjoy the crunch... *shudder* can't do it. :cry

    A few years ago, I went to San-Antonio, Tx. River Walk. One place had ribs.
    Overflowing the platter, smoked. Best ribs I have ever had in my life.

    Other thing everyone should try is Thai food if you like hot dishes. Un-like mexican. Bite into something hot, the heat dosen't stay with you for the rest of the meal. Takes your breath away for 5-10 seconds and then you can taste the next bite without the lingering heat. Till you take the next bite and get it again.

    I have eaten at a local place called THAI SPICE a few years back. I remember lots of chicken and bananas . I liked it enough to return a few times. These days, however, if the restaurant doesn't have a dollar menu, well, I'll just eat another "ghetto burger" at home . (baloney sandwich)

    None taken. Ever. She's maybe not as bad as I make out. She's a damn sight better than me, anyway. I once tried a recipe for cake in a cup (from this very site as it happens, from Tim W I think). It weren't pretty.

    It depends on who I'm taking the piss out of at the time.....
