That's nice man, of course it's a cherry picked chip but still... I wonder how it will compare to the 2600K, that's the big question on everyone's mind.

Right. There are arguments raging on another, far less civilized forum than this that I frequent .

It is funny to watch fanboy rage . :-D

Also, I'm not sure if that chip is a true octo-core . I'm seeing in some places that it is a true quadcore with advanced hyperthreading, and other sites saying that it is a true 8core .
I guess we need a consumer release and some real benchmarks to know for sure.

Well, from all that I've heard, it's a true physical octo-core. The HT designation is memory access for AMD and true, though virtual, 8-core processing on Intels. We have a week to wait.:)

LOL @ fanboys! roflmao I'm a fan of whatever is better price/performance wise. AMD haven't done much to knock out Intel chips for a long time. It's really too bad that the hexa-core SB-E is going to cost some $600 plus a new 2011 socket mobo.:mad

I have a rule to stop me from uselessly buying new hardware, %30 increase in performance minimum before I even think of upgrading. I doubt the BD can ever accomplish that over the 2600K. I might have to http://bestsmileys.com/foot_in_mouth/1.gif and I hope I do.;)

As you may have suspected, I'm a folder so I have a gold standard to compare my machines with. It'll be nice to see the comparisons based on that when BD comes out.

This is great. The uproar on this other forum is hilarious. I've always been partial to AMD, but I didn't get back into computing until the Athlon, and AMD had my name written on it because of the lower price points.
The argument threads get to max post (i think 300) within an hour or two, then the thread 404's and instantly a new one starts . Very entertaining .
Intel fanboys sticking to their guns, and AMD fans and trolls alike are getting their jollies by rubbing the new overclock record in the Intel fans' faces.
    Great fun .

Example (edited by me for language)

intelf*g: "This doesn't change anything, marketshare, Intel sounds better, longer time around, IBM, etc, etc"

Translation: Superficial non-affecting-hardware bullsh**. Intelfa**ots are just trying to rid themselves of buyer's remorse.

AMD is about to mop the floor with all you p*ick sh**s.

Hehehe, stoopid kids.:-D I've had an AMD machine and loved it! Especially when I found out that I could replace my Venice 3000+ with a 3800+ X2 for less than half the price a year later.:eek All it took was a chipset update and then BIOS on my ASUS A8N-E. Too bad that Intel went down the money road and creates all these new sockets.:(

Yeah, Intel has had -what- 4 or 5 new sockets in 2 years? I feel for the people that sunk a bunch of money into an 1156 rig only to have be discontinued so soon. Those guys are now stuck with "obsolete" gear.... it's still good gear, just obsolete.

I've been an AMD guy since the old 462 days, I had a Duron 1800 and I loved it! Then I went to a 754 X2 3200+ and at the time it freekin ROCKED!! That system is actually still in use at a friends house as a basic email/web surfer/homework system for the kids.

.... and 8.4+ ! ! ! ! ! SWEET!! I read about this earlier and was amazed!!! I can't wait to get one of these FX-dozers myself... I'm not big into OCing, but I'll have to play a bit when I get one!

Ya, bloody dead end road there eh? No where to go with those rigs!:cry Thankfully after some 6 months research, I finally settled on the 1155, which had it's own issues of course. I'm not jumping on the bandwagon this time.

And people say CPU manufacturers don't design chips to be overclocked rolleyes

Here's a manufacturer pushing its own chip to the limit and celebrating the event again, awesome.

So when you cool your new AMD chip with anti matter and it pops halfway through your first run of 38 simultaneous instances of prime while running 14 simultaneous future marks don't feel so guilty sending it back to them for a fresh one:-D
