Best media player?

I've been looking for the most versatile player, any suggestions? My OS is XP home edition.

 

With the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, you can use Windows Media Player for about anything.

I personally prefer The KMPlayer for videos, and Winamp Pro for music ($20, though they have the free version as well).

The KMPlayer is VERY configurable/customizable... and you can pause/resume with the spacebar! I realize this doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but it is when you need to pause a movie, etc. and don't want to have to try and find the mouse cursor.

 

Thanks for the quick response, KMP is one on my list to consider along with VLC, Real Player, Final Media player and of course the latest version of Windows Media Player. Just getting a sample of what others use.

 

Well, one thing to keep in mind, is that media player installations don't use much disk space, so you could install all of the above and switch between them until you figure out what you like.
