An Interesting Question

I think it was remarkable that within a week of tiger woods crashing his escalade, the press found every woman with whom tiger has had an affair in the last few years, with photos, text messages, recorded phone call, etc. And, they not only know the cause of the family fight, but even know it was a wedge from his golf bag that his wife used to break out the windows in the escalade. Not only that, they know which wedge! And each and every day, they give america more updates on his sex-rehab stay, his wife's plans for divorce, and the dates and tournaments he will play in.


Obama has been in office for over a year now, and this same press still cannot find any of his childhood friends or neighbors or locate any of obama's college papers or grades or how he paid for a harvard education, or which country issued his visa to travel to pakistan in the 1980's or barry soretoro or even michelle obama's princeton thesis on racism.

Is this about the press or Obama? Because.. I'm pretty sick of the Obama piece of it. He's been in office almost the full term and it's time to get over it and look to the future. He's a citizen, get over it.

But the press part of it, minus rhetoric and generalizations - a discussion on the existence or lack there of journalistic integrity and media slant may make for an interesting conversation. If it could be limited to factual accumulation of data, and intelligent observations...

Hmmm The press are struggling finding people from 30-40 years ago who are now living their lives probably oblivious to the fact they went to school with Obama or actually have lives and rightfully don't care what conspiracy type crap the righties are coming up with rolleyes or the people are unwilling to come forward just to stand in front of camera and look like tool as they admit "Hi I went to school with Obama."

As oppose to a load of money and fame whores who 'recently' slept with Tiger which was THE most important thing they have ever achieved and the only reason anyone knows the succubus's exist who seemed to come forward unbelievably readily.

I shudder to think how empty my life would have to be for it to be an option to go on national (international, really) television to become "famous" for having slept with someone.

 

To the OP, don't trust the mainstream media for your news. Search out different sources, and find the news you think is accurate. Without going beyond the realm of the Lounge, I do, in my personal opinion, see a lot of media bias that favors bo.

And for the record, yes, I think bo is a citizen. But the media did not report on him like they have other candidates. Since this is the Lounge, think I will just wish you all a Happy begining of Oktoberfest! :-D

Interesting questions make you think or teach you something (relevent) new when you learn the answer.

Guy on the escalator... not so much.

 

Here in the UK we have a TV series called QI (Quite Interesting) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QI . Lots of interesting questions in which the obvious answer isn't always the correct one. Very entertaining and humorous...

Don't know if you can see the show or clips outside of the UK.

We have the program Q.I., (Quite interesting) over here, too. With questions such as "When was the term World War One actually first used.

Answer:- The term "World War I" was invented by Time magazine in its issue of June 12, 1939. In that same issue, the term World War II was first used speculatively by Time magazine to describe the upcoming war. The first use for the actual war came in its issue of September 11, 1939.

September 11, an ironic date in retrospect.

There are other alternative answers as well, which leads me to believe that no one is actually sure, i.m.o.

 

A QI question: "Name a [living] green mammal?" and apparently there aren't any. There are green birds (parrot, budgerigar), reptiles (chameleon), amphibians (frog), insects, etc. but no green mammals that is a common colour to non-mammals. There is a green sloth but its greeness is attributed to the algae growing on it, i.e., it moves so slowly that moss grows on it!

However, it didn't consider people going green with envy or jealously or Mr Spock from Vulcan or the Jolly Green Giant, but it did consider other green objects.
