    Hi and welcome to MG's,

Thats quite a rig you've got there ;).

Ok... the best AV program in the world for starters is "YOURSELF" if you have good surfing habbits then any decent AV/Malware software programs will do their job ;).

This is the set up I have on all of my systems....

    1.)Comodo Internet Security... (free)
    http://majorgeeks.com/Comodo_Internet_Security_d6234.html

    2.)IObit Malwarefighter Pro... (paid version)
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=6088

    3.)PSI Secunia... (free)
    http://majorgeeks.com/Secunia_Personal_Software_Inspector_PSI_d6030.html

4.)SuperAnti Spyware... (free back up scanner only)
    http://majorgeeks.com/SUPERAntiSpyware_d5116.html

all of which are very light on system resources and very good at what they are supposed to do!!!!;)!!!! Since I have been using this set up I have not been infected and my machines run smoothely.

I hope this helps in you finding the right solution for yourself.

first thank you for the nice comment and
second is there 1 program that can do all of them jobs in 1?(I dont care how much it costs or if its light or heavy)
third iv been hearing alot about Comodo Internet Security and uperAnti Spyware

Nope!! sorry but there is not a program that I am aware of that will do the same job as all 4 of my listed security programs... The programs I have listed are very user friendly and run without any user intervention (apart from SaS as that needs to be manually updated before running).

Comodo is an all in one security suite that incorperates AV/Malware/Firewall and Cloud protection, you can also opt in to use their secure DNS servers as an extra precaution, very easy to configure if you wish to configure, I have just left it at it's defaults and it works perfect ;).

IOBit is a "REAL TIME" malware scanner that is constantly working to keep the nasties out, superfast scan times and will pick up and clean the hardest infections around, you can purchase a key for realtime protection through the update to Pro on the free verion that I linked for you.

Secunia PSI is a security tool that will keep your systems hardware/software up to date to help stop any security issues arrising from out of date versions, this is very user freindly too and needs reletively no intervention from the user, it will auto scan your system weekly and patch anything that needs patching.

SaS is an excellent virus/malware scanner you can purchase a realtime version but I prefer IOBit as my realtime scanner as it is lighter on the system. As I said before i only use this as a back up scanner(run it once a month) and the only pitfall is that you have to manually update it before scanning, not a big deal really you just need to hit the update button :-D

Heres a few threads to you can read and choice from. Remember that having more then one antivirus can cause problems with other ones. People come here often with 3 of the same type with problems that came to them. Also remember its the user that causes most infections. SO your surfing and downloading will be the main thing to be careful with.

I was running Avast and superantispyware, malwarebytes for after the fact scans. But atm I got a free key from here for a program. So Ive been messing around and testing it.

I'm not a heavy duty Geek...however, I do believe in a CLEAN 'puter. So I run avast!, Secunia PS and Malwarebytes...have had ZERO problems with MY Laptop which is an HP. I agree with iain.t...the best anti virus is YOU!

After trying many AV aps, hands-off simplicity with fewest running processes or services is what I like best. Right now, that would be something like Panda Cloud AV. There seems to be no 'best' one as you request, but the least bloated AVs would be my recommendation.

I used to have Norton, and AVG, and sometimes AVG would catch something Norton would not. Scanned in SAFE mode. There is no such thing as a better program for an uber-machine. Your just a lowly single use customer.

I used to use 'Black Ice' for scanning any type of port interaction, if you want to learn about what is going on. Its for the uber paranoid. And I guess it wouldn't make much of a dent in your system.

What I use now, on my $50.00 Dell 4300, is a Linux ISO image burned to disc. I load into Firefox, do my online banking, NOTHING ELSE, and then I'm out.

With that rig you have, you should load into it in 2 minutes or less! (Takes me like 4)

Put a sticker that says: No Porn- on the screen. Thats about 3/4 of the problem.:p

    OK guys
Iain.t:thank you ever so much, I will begin testing them in a virtual machine first on my wifes comp.
Silas:Thank you for that link, i have found 2 that i like so far and my son uses AVAST Internet Security and also thanks for another point on SuperAntiSpyware. I have heard so much about it and my kid also likes malwarebytes.
kiminbend: Thank you on agreeing with Iain.t that the best antivirus is 'YOU', and for what you use.
tritonobx: Thank you for suggesting panda cloud but unfortunately it is a cloud based product so it dose need to have constant connection to the internet.
Rocktot: Thank you on the Norton up side. I might get internet security for that and avg doesn't really get my vote and my Alien-Ware currently loads up everything in under 30 seconds :D:D:D:D (I ain't put a password on it yet) after all it is a super computer and to get a virus on it and then that virus destroy it, My heart will shatter in a billion peaces.
Thank you guys ever so much and i will be testing them later on today (After i download the installs)

    Hello!

My favorite is Avast for it's frequency of updates (up to 3 per day) compared to the competition that often only updates once a day. I also like Avast's deep heuristic scanning and boot-time scan, and the new Sandbox feature of Avast 6.

I have learned that it is important to have only one anti-virus on your computer to prevent slowdowns, memory conflicts and other problems.

I also use the free version of Malware Bytes Anti-Malware, which requires an update before being run in the free version, but is really good at catching what your AV might miss. And I also use My Web of Trust, a.k.a WOT to help with color coded ratings when browsing the web, to keep users safe from bad web sites.

Spend $50 US and get Acronis and backup your OS to optical media and restore it to your hard drives if and when needed. I just run Avast and MS Defender and haven't been bit yet!

OT: I'm quite surprised that you don't have an SSD in there for your OS considering how much you paid Dell.:eek

Overclock the sucker then to beat my i7-2600K @ stock.;) Watercooling takes some maintenance every 6 months or so unless you got one of those closed loop ones like the H100 from Corsair or equivalent. I build my own machines.
